Alpha Industries Tiger Souvenir Jacket

This souvenir jacket from Alpha Industries pays homage to a trend that emerged toward the end of World War II—first on the American base in Yokosuka, Japan, and then in other countries. As US servicemen and women prepared to return home, they took their government-issued jackets to local craftsmen to be embroidered with unique patterns and regional motifs. Small mementos of their time abroad, these designs ranged from tigers, dragons, and eagles to maps of the areas where they had served. Also known as Yokosuka jumpers and sukajan, souvenir jackets have since made their way into modern street fashion. This lightweight, slim-fitting bomber features tiger embroidery and a fully reversible design.
