update: the fineliner mont blanc refills arrived today and they do indeed fit perfect. The hole is the right size after all. The monteverde refills are crap--they are undersized for the hole, they don't write well and even the threads to screw the refill in are not done right. I guess for every one of me, there are 10 people who would complain that it shipped with no ink if they didn't include it. Anyway the pen works great and the precision is top notch.
