Can anyone with this watch please confirm that the most it can time on the chrono is 30 mins (too little for most things I might time...)? Or is there a possibility that the 10th sec subdial then really does measure hours once 30 mins has elapsed? Thanks! Anyone with a camo-dial version that is happy with it, or are you always thinking you'd have preferred a regular dial colour?

Tim.ROn a Ronda 5040.B, that's what it does. For the first 30 minutes, the 1/10 dial measures tenths of a second. After 30 minutes, it switches functions so that the 1/10 dial measures hours. It will time events out to 10 hours if you don't demand >1 second precision for events longer than 30 minutes.
I have a non-camo version with the "hydrocarbon" dial, so I can't comment on whether you'd like it or not. The quality will be outstanding for $300. If this were the black dial, bracelet version, I'd probably need to own two. I think the camo would be a bit much for office wear.

OvrSteerThank you! For clarity, are you saying you believe the movement on this Alpina, quoted as an “Alpina AL-372 13-jewel quartz” is in fact the same as a Ronda 5040.B? So you’re sure this watch’s chrono function will time to 10 hours (albeit to the nearest second after 30 mins)? I’ve seen these in a UK AD and they do look good quality. Thanks for replying.

OvrSteerThanks! Even the Alpina website doesn't seem to have that level of clarity: the most I can find is '30-minute counter', nothing about that counter changing after 30 mins to count the hours..! They're not doing a great job of promoting their products' performance! No doubt this drop will reappear again at some stage...
