Americans use enough straws every day to circle the globe two and a half times over. It’s a shocking statistic, and it has serious consequences Read More
The cheapest method here, is to simply RE-USE your plastic straw, over and over again.
Still have one from 2015, which has been constantly cleaned and sterilized after each use.
Hence why make something so complicated and expensive, when common sense is perfect and far cheaper.
There is a HUGE design flaw with these as others have mentioned. The interior tube is so small it restricts flow and on top of that, it won't even work with a shake or malt (or anything thicker in consistency than water) because it will just collapse inside the metal housing.
I'd like to see a version that has screw together pieces with food safe o-rings to seal each connection, making it airtight. Then there would be no way it could collapse and it would work with anything that you'd ever want to suck up a straw.
srvctecI've been searching for a screw together straw for ages, and nothing is available. I'd buy even a prototype model in a heart beat. It seems like such a good idea.
Lots of cheaper knockoffs of this exact same thing on Amazon. I purchased one for 1/2 the price.
Most comments say that the actual flow throw the straw is somewhat constricted by the narrower (flexible) internal TPU tube. Since there's an internal straw, this implies that you can disconnect one length and still draw fluid through the bent straw.
