Excellent running shoe (10km run)

I love Altra, and the Escalante are my fast running shoe (for 10km - 40minutes in competition). Very pleased with them. Notice they are not much resistant if you wear them on trails... they'r built for the road ;)

Stop killing your back, and buy these

Zero drop, super cush & durable foam base, wide toe box, laces that don't slip after you tighten and are tying a knot. You could have purchased these in the time it took you to read that last sentence.

Like every pair of Altras I own

Altra is my go-to everyday brand. I wear them for walking, running, hiking.... Everything. The Escalante are like all other Altra models I've owned, super comfortable, very neutral and soft on the footfall. The one star ding is because the cushioning changes at a steady and relatively fast pace. All Altras I've owned are broken in in less than 20 miles, but transition out of their sweet spot more quickly then other brands I've been loyal to in the past. To me, they are worth it. They might not live as long as some other brands, but I'm always happy to buy a new pair on Drop, or elsewhere when a model reaches the end of it's retail life.

Great road shoes at a great price!

I usually run trails, but I got these road shoes because of how much I like Altra's trail shoes. I used them to train for the first road marathon I have run in over 10 years. Amazing and comfortable. The outsole is perfect for road running and the upper is the most comfortable one I've ever felt. The upper does not seem to be overly breathable though. Still easily 5 stars!!!

Huge toe room, padding like running on a cloud. Perfect for midfoot strike running. Warning, not for any off road use. Any gravel, roots or other debris can hurt. This is my second pair of Escalantes and I highly recommend.

I am sad to report that Massdrop has really let me down. They sent me the incorrect size shoe and when I went to check the size again, I realized that my shoes are two different sizes. I am past the 30 day return mark and Massdrop will not take any responsibility for the error. I have been a loyal customer and purchased the Dan Durston tent as well as the Goosefeet gear pillow. Was going to purchase the Altra MT trail shoe, but with crickets chirping from customer service, I think not. Too bad, I really was behind Massdrop, but it is unlikely that I will be referring or purchasing in the future.
