I am sad to report that Massdrop has really let me down. They sent me the incorrect size shoe and when I went to check the size again, I realized that my shoes are two different sizes. I am past the 30 day return mark and Massdrop will not take any responsibility for the error. I have been a loyal customer and purchased the Dan Durston tent as well as the Goosefeet gear pillow. Was going to purchase the Altra MT trail shoe, but with crickets chirping from customer service, I think not. Too bad, I really was behind Massdrop, but it is unlikely that I will be referring or purchasing in the future.

Any update to when this might drop? I’m tired of my feet getting wet through the holes in my shoes, and I have my eyes set on these escalantes.

Have had these for a couple of days now. First, they came in a huge outer box and it was obvious USPS had to repackage these. When I got it open I realized why. The shoe box was still wet and falling apart and the shoes themselves were damp. It appears the original package had  been in an accident involving the recent heavy rains here in California last week. I sure hope these things don’t start getting moldy. 😬 On to the shoes themselves: I’m no runner so won’t be commenting from that angle. I’m on my feet all day in a hospital setting so was interested in how these would hold up with that in mind. Sizing: On average I wear a 12.5 so ordered the 13s based on what I’d read about Altras. Glad I did. My feet are luxuriating in the wider toe area.  Soles: Super bouncy. Have never had shoes that were as springy as these. I’m liking it so far. These are my first pair of Zero Drops and I can see I’m going to have to acclimate. Ankles are a bit fatigued after a full day at this new angle.  Uppers: Are indeed soft. These shoes aren’t so much constructed as they are tailored. Not a bad thing if you are looking for an extremely flexible shoe. If you require more support these might not be for you. Super airy and well ventilated though if that’s important for you.  Because of the fabric-like uppers they feel like they need to be babied if I want them to last a long time. Some have reported eyelets tearing and holes developing sooner than expected because of the soft nature of the materials. If you are a frequent runner the comfort of these may justify the shorter lifespan. At $60 though, these couldn’t be passed up. Overall, very happy with the purchase.

After reading more reviews I’m concerned the uppers on these might be too soft. I’m seeing remarks like “sock-like”. I’m not a runner, but I do put 6, 8, or, at times, 10 miles a day walking at the hospital I work at. Can users comment on the support these provide under these moderate conditions?

I wear an 8.5 tennis shoe. I was originally told these run big so I ordered an 8. Now people and staff are saying they run small. Well now I can't order my size that would fit anymore cause it's sold out. It also won't let me cancel my order now which seems a bit shady

Hi Everyone, thank you for the overwhelming interest in this drop. The Escalante is one of Altra's top rated shoes, and we're grateful we were able to share this great deal with you. As far as inventory goes, what's left is left and we will not be restocking anymore sizes. If you weren't able to join in this time, check out Altra's website for the updated version, the Escalante 1.5!

PaigeDDo the 1.0s run big or small compared to a normal tennis shoe? People keep telling me different things. I'm about to cancel my order if I can't figure out the propper size to buy

How much is 7 USA in cm? 25? I need to make sure before I cancel the drop please, thank you. The fact that you left them empty is worrying me...
That sounds about right. We do not have a Men's size 7 in the office or else I would measure it. Sorry about that!

AltraRunnerThank you. Exactly, even on your website it's not available for any shoe (only 8 usa), are you producing special shoes for this Massdrop? My feet is 24.7 cm, it should fit? Just making sure that you did produce size 7 and it's not a mistake
