Great shoe. Use a pair for running, one for the gym and one for work. At such a deal why not? Altras are my shoe of choice and this light weight runner is just another reason I love them.

Bad construction, tongue was stitched to the interior mouth of shoe.

Unfortunately this not the same configyration as the Lone Peaks I have come to love. They are narrower with a more restrictive material to hold shape So they have been tight and less prone to stretch.

I am very happy with these shoes. This is my first pair of Altras, and they fit me perfectly. I did order up a full size from what I'd normally wear- after having read the recommendations. They are very comfortable out of the box. They do have a firmer ride, but that is a plus for me. I've had zero issues with blisters or hot spots. These shoes have great protection around the toes- where the upper meets the sole. The entire area is reinforced with a harder exoskeleton. This makes me think these shoes will be quite durable. Every pair of shoes I've had that does not have this feature always rips a hole where the upper joins to the sole.
It seems most of the negative reviews for this shoe are due to the fact that this iteration is quite a bit different from the previous model, and not because of the shoe itself. Altra is very clear on their website that the V3 is NOT the same shoe as the 2.5! So please do not order the V3 under the assumption that they are going to be the same, and then proceed to trash them in a review. It's dishonest, and does not help anyone else who is trying to research the shoe to see if it'll work for them. The fact is, the V3 is a great shoe, and I have no issues recommending it to folks who want a lightweight, lighter-cushioned, firmer shoe that will last.

WTF happened to Altra? They were by far my favorite shoe company until the last 2 pairs that I've purchased, including the One V3. The sizes on them are drastically different than the 6 pairs before them and drastically different from each other as well.
On to the One V3. These shoes are shite. I can barely get my foot into the toe box and once I do, it is so damn tight that I'm literally losing circulation in my toes. There is a tight spot just behind the ball of my foot that simply won't do. Right where the tongue and laces terminate. Furthermore these shoes seem to have channeled the spirit of Nike in their sizing with the long skinny, person born with only 3 toes on each foot build. I will not be able to wear them.
STOP IT ALTRA! Stick to what you do well. People love your shoes because they don't rub despite not deforming their feet by binding their toes, and are super comfy. For me the lemon to lemonade ratio is going to get to where I swear off a shoe company if I end up with another bad pair or two. You must have consistency in your sizing. If you have that people can figure out how to work around the particularities of their fit preferences.
Here's to hoping my Torins can keep going for a bit longer...

What cave have I been living in that I'd never heard of these shoes until just this last year? First saw them recently when I stopped to talk to a PCT thru-hiker that later passed me like a flash. He had stopped in a shady spot along the trail for lunch right where I needed to stop for a few minutes to catch my breath after a switchback climb above Meiss Meadow. I couldn't help but notice the oddly shaped toe box of his shoes and, having had reconstructive surgery for some bad hammer toes this last March, was intrigued. Of course, by the time I'd gotten home from that trip, I'd forgotten what those shoes were that he was wearing until seeing ALTRA shoes on Massdrop. "Hey, those are the shoes that skinny, fast kid was wearing!" So, I ordered a pair. They showed up yesterday. I couldn't get them on fast enough. WOW, now that's a lot of room in that toe box and nothing rubs...anywhere. I've been in the habit of buying shoes a size or so larger than I need due to the condition of my feet, but I seriously think that I didn't need to with these. They hug my arch in such a way that my feet remain firmly planted over the arch and in the heel without tightening too much. They felt so good that I just started walking around...out the door, down the street and to the local shoe store some friends own here in town to show them off. Probably a mistake in the 103 degree afternoon, but damn, they feel great. I can wiggle my toes in the toe box and, yet, they don't rub! It was on the walk home (maybe just over a mile, round-trip) that I really started examining the differences between the feel of these as compared to my old Oboz Sawtooths (wide) and new Merrill All-Out Rushs. (For what it's worth, I really, really liked those Oboz.) I found myself walking more upright and there was definitely more cushioning that either of the previously mentioned shoes, but the thing that really stood out was softer heel strike...something easy to notice when walking on sidewalks and pavement...hot, hot pavement. There was considerably less jarring on my feet, ankles and knees with these shoes than almost anything I'd ever worn before. It was at least as soft a heel strike as with my Oofos flip-flops which are like walking on a cloud. Now, these are a running shoe and not a true trail shoe and that shows up in how extremely light they are. The pair weighs less than one of my Sawtooths and I'm actually looking for a trail shoe, but if they hold up for five or six hikes... I'm really hoping that these come up on another drop soon as I'd like to try a pair in my true size which, with the width of this toe box, I'm sure will be OK on these messed up feet of mine. Fit is true to size for me. This is my first pair of Altra shoes and they are pretty great for road running. They definitely took a run or 2 to get used to as I could feel stabilizers in my feet activating that don't normally when running. The zero-drop and natural toe-box aspects feels very different compared to most shoes. I like the spring in the shoes, they have a way of propelling you forward that I haven't had in other shoes, and I love that I can splay my toes out in the toe-box. I would recommend them as solid road running shoes to anyone looking.

Runs too small. compare to Escalante for example so I think you need to go one size bigger. I need to trade mine.

Preface: 15EEEE, impossible to find running shoes that fit besides Altra, to the point that I alternate sandals to cut down on shoe expenses. The One 2.5 fit better than any other "street shoe" I can find that also has low drop, and had gone through three pairs (with 350-500 miles on each using duct tape inside to reinforce the outside edge that wears out on EVERY shoe, hence the EEEE width). First take on these new V3's: I'm excited that the upper seems more durable than the previous models, hopefully the sides won't blow out. I will say that there's a give/take with that, since now I get pressure on the outsides that can hurt if I don't lace up really loose through the midfoot, and then tight only at the ankle. The outsole seems the same, perhaps a bit more stiff than the 2.5 but in a good way. Overall I'm excited by the new model, but the proof is in the longevity! 40 miles so far, and no signs of wear.
