Built for runners who want to improve their form without losing the supportive features of a traditional stability shoe, the Altra Provision 3.0 is great for road running, cross-training, walking, and even some light trail running. Its ultralight EVA midsole features moderate A-Bound cushioning, which delivers responsive energy return and reduces the impact of hard surfaces. New to this model, the Varus Stability Wedge and StabiliPod technologies assist wearers with fallen arches. The integrated GuideRail keeps the foot balanced on both sides for pronation and supination control. FootPods on the outsole map the metatarsals for more adaptive, individualized cushioning across the foot. Finally, the proprietary Zero Drop platform ensures an ideal weight balance from heel to forefoot, while the FootShape toe box encourages natural toe splay for more comfort, stability, and speed.
Note: At checkout, choose the men’s shoe in orange, or the women’s shoe in dark blue or orange. Available sizes will vary depending on color chosen.
Altra was born in the back room of a Wasatch Mountains running store, where owner Golden Harper met countless runners who complained of knee pain, shin splints, and other injuries from traditional pointed toe boxes and thick, heavy heels. A competitive runner himself, Golden began experimenting with shoe alterations to solve his customers’ problems. By melting the outsoles (in his trusty toaster oven!), he was able to remove the excess heel elevation for a more natural, relaxed foot position. The new platform design was dubbed Zero Drop.
