I don't think it's fair to say people aren't a fan of vinyl toys here based upon one item. This is merely a very boring design that has a quite niche audience.

vaxickNot to mention that the design from 2011. If this is how Massdrop wants to build a vinyl community they need to do some more market research. Start with the tried and true classics; Kidrobot for the purists, Funko Pop for that younger entry level collector segment, a super limited run of TAG figures for the high end crowd.
I'm not sure I would call this drop a "pretty cool way to kick things off". I would call it a lukewarm start, that's playing it a bit to safe to draw a crowd.
Hell, I could see a huge community for this particular market. Hey Massdrop, here's this for an idea; commission a run of Massdrop exclusive figures from a current, relevant artist. You can tier the pricing to reflect the bulk manufacturing discount, we get something at an affordable price that is truly unique, and MD/Artist get a nifty little profit. In addition to this you'd be releasing an exclusive on an already reputable platform, and bringing in new consumers.
iLeicaMikeI think that something like a Jason Freeny custom or colorway of some of his more popular works would sell extremely well. I mean, the basic Gummy Bear Anatomy always sells out the minute it shows up. To that same degree, keeping with Adam Bell, a custom ANDROID vinyl at $10/each would sell hundreds.
ChicagoWaySimilar? Sure. White & Black compared to Grey & Red. But all colorways are similar to some extent or another.

Still, unless you were able to grab the DeKorner exclusive, first released at WonderCon (3/29-3/31) in Anaheim, CA, I for one don't have anything similar to it.
ZUUL42Having seen the two side by side on a different monitor I would have to withdraw my question. To me there seems enough difference that I wouldn't be critical.
