imkzfI haven't tried the ModMic yet but I'm very unhappy with my Vmoda boom mic for my setup. I think the microphone itself is fine, but the wiring design is the source of my problems. With the Vmoda mic, the microphone line and the headphone line are integrated into one cable where it attached to the headphones. That's great for cable management and looking sleek, but bad for interference. Unless you're plugging your mic and headphone cables into an audio interface that has the same grounding point, you're going to get very audible feedback in the headphones even when the microphone isn't in use.
So, for example, if you are planning to plug the headphone terminal into a nice DAC but the headphone terminal into the motherboard's microphone input, you're going to get electronic noise in your headphones because the shared cable has two different grounding points.
If you're plugging both the headphone terminal and mic terminal into a single audio interface device with a shared ground, it's going to sound great.
Also, unless you have the Vmoda headphones I don't think the microphone will even work for you. As mentioned, it plugs directly into the Vmoda headphones whereas the ModMic is on a separate line and should work with any headphones.

imkzfI had a vmoda but the cable was awful compared to the cable that came with my headphones, so I got the modmic 4.0 and its really great. It sounds really nice and having the option to just remove the mic is perfect
