I actually jumped the shark and ordered directly before the Massdrop became active, however I notice that some of you already have a ModMic. I have BT880 headphones where the cable is on the left side but I am right handed. Do you have any experience with this sort of configuration? Is it better to have the ModMic on the left side with the cable to clip to or the right side because it feels more natural? My ModMic has just arrived but I can't decide which side I should mount it to :P

mihalskiBack when I used to use headsets, I prefered to have the mic on my non-dominant hand side. This enabled me to lift it out of the way, incase I needed to do something (e.g. drink or talk to someone), while still being able to use the mouse. Also, couldn't you just route it back behind your neck to clip to the cable, if you do choose the right side?

mihalski@mihalskiRight handed here, with headphones cable on the left (superlux hd668b), just like you. Besides the fact that I've found it super weird and unnatural to have the mic on the right side, I think it is better and more comfortable to keep both cables on one side. Right hand on the mouse, left hand free for assistance and support (ie, move/mute the mic).
@genkidama This mic comes with two base clasps. A base clasp has an adhesive that sticks to the headphones on one side and a magnet on the other side. The mic has a similar clasp with a magnet that keeps it on the clasp on the headphones. You can just pull it off anytime and use your headphones without the mic. Magnets, they're awesome! Check a video on youtube or antlion's website to see how it works. The mic is really great at picking up sounds, that's what you have it for. If you want to keep it always active (no push to talk) and still be able to mute it when moving it around, go for the muted version. It has a mute switch which deactivates the mic.
@tbrm I don't know how sensitive the omni is, but I can assure you that the uni is fully functional even when turned upwards. I can have perfectly clear conversations online with the mic next to my temple. Imagine the clarity and volume of my voice when I bring it down to my mouth, its proper position. So I say go for the uni (standard) version. And do something about that AC unit, you'll catch a cold.

mihalskiThis may be a personal preference but I'm going to put the mic on the side that the cable comes from on my headset. This will enable me to tie the two cable together more easily with the provided clips. Just a thought.

KAPS1M0Sounds like it's still a pretty wide capture field then if it works by your temple.

tbrmI've had the exact opposite experience with the 4.0 Uni, the capture field is incredibly narrow, and the mic _needed_ to be 1 inch away from my mouth.
Placed 1 inch directly in front of my mouth the capture volumes and qualities are impeccable, move it even 1/2 an inch away, and it won't even pass the Win 7 mic setup tests due to low input volumes.
