jonny42193Omni directional has better sound quality but will pick up more ambient noise as a result. Uni directional will produce "good" quality sound and has a better signal to noise ratio because the mic capsule only faces one direction (we hope, towards your mouth). Think of it like the Omni is standing in a concert hall where the sound gets to bounce around the whole room and the Uni is like talking into a telephone, where the sound is only picked up from one spot. I dunno if that analogy works :D I posted a video a few pages back -
