Just wait, Nvidia is releasing their new cards in less than a month.
MSRP for these is like 750 so it's not a good deal anyway. Kryptonite is crashing soon with all the legislation being drawn up and taxes needing to be paid so we're going to see the market FLOODED with used cards by Summer.

MeyoThis is probably not the case, they probably won't go into production until Q3 with the release coming later. It's a supply and demand issue and Nvidia has no reasons to release the new cards right now. They can't keep up with current demand with the current generation and AMD isn't posing a serious threat. It's not a bad time to get a 1080ti if you can find a good deal.

MeyoLikely not going to happen. Even it did, it would be an announcement not a release.

boyd.mediaThere seems to be a split on opinions on this from people in the know that are reporting. Some saying what I'm saying others what you're saying.
Bottom line is these are not good deals.
Lower your settings for better in game FPS and wait it out. Don't fall for any of this price gouging garbage. When the market falls it's going to fall hard.

MeyoYou're not going to want to buy a used mining card, though. Mining is extremely rough on cards but YMMV.

MeyoTrue about the split opinion. I have friends who work at nvidia that tell me it's still months off due to demand of current cards. That said, I agree the price is too high. I think auto notify from EVGA is a better system. I got a 1080ti for about 800 using that system. You just have to be quick.

edgie168I agree about not wanting to buy a used mining card. :)

MeyoNvidia isn't releasing Ampere anytime soon. They'd have already started production by now if they were going to release in April as per prior years. There isn't any reason they should as Vega can't compete at the top end and Nvidia has a stranglehold on the mid-market with their GPP program. With over 3 million video cards bought last year for mining alone, you may have a point about used ones hitting the market this year, tho it will be later than summer as I alluded to. Not sure I want a used mining card. Watch Amazon, Newgg, and sign up for the list on Nvidia's site for much closer to MSRP.

boyd.mediaYou have friends who work at nvidia... You know they have an employee discount program. Why not get one from them?

DrewDelBc the employee discount is limited to a certain number of gpus and they dont like me enough. Also, I make a pretty high income(bc I work 70 hours a week) so I can afford whatever GPU I want.
