Decisions desicisions.... do I pay $10 more at massdrop, and wait a month for it to even ship, or get free 2-day shipping and pay only $96 total at https://www.cutleryandmore.com/yaxell-dragon/hollow-edge-nakiri-knife-red-handle-fire-series-p137459 ?

ChaostrophyThere was an automatic 20% or 25% off when I ordered it. No codes. No jerking off. Just a cool ~$92 and 2-day delivery. Bummer. I don’t see that today. For once, massdrop may actually have the better price! Haha. It used to be the rule around here, not the exception. Congratulations massdrop!

captainThanks Captain you saved me from buying this with your post. Found it on Amazon with the hollow grind scallops which I like way better and it reduced that awful Kanji and Dragon's Fire print to something so tiny I can live with it. $20 more, with 5% back only $13 more and I'll have it in my hot little hands on Thursday! Thanks again.

stevefury68To be fair, the one that I found for cheaper has the “hollow grind” scallops on the side of the blade, and a smaller logo. The exact same knife over at that site https://www.cutleryandmore.com/yaxell-dragon/nakiri-knife-red-handle-fire-series-p137460 looks like it costs about $40 more than this drop. So, massdrop is really giving us a deal for once! I’m amazed! :-)

captainIt is unacceptable to allow Massdrop to “EDIT” our posts without specifying what was edited, and alerting the poster that its post has been edited! This is at the same level of sneaky subterfuge that Massdrop engages in when canceling orders it screwed up on and couldn’t fill, thence refunding money: rather than maintaining the purchase history, and attaching a refund history, Massdrop completely DELETES all history of the order and the refund, acting as if it never happened, rather than maintaining the history trail. Massdrop needs to pull its head out of its ass on these points. I’m fine with the edits and refunds, but not the pretending like nothing was done. Just be HONEST and up front Massdrop!

captainThanx for your post. I had a run in with a seller on eBay that conceled my order, (if I had paid, he refunded it. I don't recall being cheated so there was no loss of money.), and I think black listed me from his site. What precipitated his response was my comment on the poor quality of his photos and wanting reassurance about the purchase. (It was a knife.) I don't know if he was way too sensitive or just a scammer. However, I am sensitive about the issue that you posted. Good for you. The post appears to be original after 7 weeks.

14themoneyThis has only happened to me personally once, to my knowledge, in the forum here; and once, that I recall, with an order. There’s just no reason to delete all the history, nor to edit someone’s post without telling him what and why. I can’t even tell, in the original post above, what the moderator edited. To Massdrop’s credit, it at least tagged my edited post so that I know that it WAS edited, but I did not receive an alert telling me it had happened, nor an explanation of what was being changed, nor why. With the order, there’s just zero evidence left on massdrop.com that: I ordered, paid for, and then was told essentially, “Oops! We screwed up so you cannot have what you odered and paid for—here’s a refund.” That’s not how honest professional people do business. Albeit, it’s not criminal like some scammers I’ve encountered on ebay! :-) FWIW, the item that I bought was a boardgame about Terraforming Mars. There was a HUGE amount of hype around this pre-release game, and I was greatly looking forward to getting an early copy at a good price. Massdrop’s FUBAR handling of the deal ended up costing me over twice as much. Luckily, I was able to get the game, but it burned my poor wallet—proving that there were games to be had (I feel like a Massdrop lied to us to cancel the orders because its profit margin wasn’t going to be big enough). Nowadays, Massdrop doesn’t even seem to try to give us good deals. Usually the same items are available elsewhere for the same price, often much lower prices, with much faster delivery, and guarantees of proper history tracking. I still come here for the occasional oddball item or very rare good deal, but the last couple of orders have burned me again (a misadvertized toy that’s substandard, and a defective flashlight). I’ll probably EVENTUALLY get my money back on the defective light after jumping through many hoops, but I’m probably just out $80 for the cheap crap toy sold as high-end executive quality. sigh

captainThank you. I would like to believe that people were more interested in doing the right thing than saving face. But. sigh.
