Received mine as well, with a neat mini blue-anodized SCS grinder. These are the brand new M1A4 series (though the series name/number can't be used to identify releases, we've only seen these particular ones recently).
This batch will let you keep the charger plugged in while using it! Older ones (such as the M1A3 [much, much earlier than M1A4, kinda misleading like I said) I have that will now take a backup role) required a seperate hefty 9v power supply that would let you use it in "PA" (power-aux) mode, but wouldn't actually charge the battery. Our new ones will let you keep the charger plugged in and will resume charge between sessions! No more switching plugs in and out all the freakin time!

bizurkFrom being powered off, I'm plugging mine in. It beeps, the blue light flashes, powers up with a number of amber lights indicating the current charge level and the green CHARGE LED flashing it indicate charging. (After it tops up the charge, all 7 amber LEDs will be illuminated and the green CHARGE LED remains solid green. The blue IDLE LED remains lit as well.)
My much older M1A3 model works exactly the same until this point. However with this older one, pressing either button will do nothing. Holding them both together for any given length of time does nothing, either.
--- End of the old era Solos ---
With the new one I unboxed yesterday (thank you, MD!), if I press the down button, all of the LEDs will go dark except for the blue IDLE LED for a couple of seconds, then it returns to normal.
Hmmm, you might wonder? :) Press the UP button, and the 1st amber LED lights up for a moment, then the green CHARGE LED starts blinking again, but the other amber LEDs remain off. Wait... the 1st one light up, and hey, that red HEAT LED is blinking in time with the green CHARGE LED! If I press the down button, all the amber LEDs are off, a moment later many of the amber LEDs light up again indicating current charge level, but the red HEAT LED stopped blinking with the green CHARGE LED. We're back to just charging :(
Unsatisfied with this result, I press the up button 7 times and after less than a minute, all 7 amber LEDs are lit indicating it's up to temperature. I know better (the internal heat mass is up to temp, but the surface of the oven itself will need about another minute to "catch up". My older Solo is more "accurate" with the heat indicator, but this new one sure as hellfire heats up quicker!)
I put in my PV high efficiency GonG (Google it! :D) with some nicely ground Inspiration using this lovely 2-piece (edit for @Psyclist : blue-annodized color) SCS grinder (shredder, whatever), and it inserts nicely into some functional glass art that diffuses a little Inspiration among those like-minded.
If yours behaves differently, we'd be greatly interested, as since these came from the same pallet from the factory after a stocking delay, we'd assume almost all of these would be manufactured within a few days of all-another (same batch).
Happy Daze, friend! :)
Edit: PS - it appears the 12 minute auto power-off is still in effect with the charger plugged in (but it "reboots" to charge mode, not staying powered off). 2nd Edit: The "high efficiency" version may be a bit much with this new solo since it seems to "breathe" better than my old one. I may have to try more options! I do this in the name of science! (I found some Inspiration myself :D)
