The Armand Nicolet S05 has a robust, industrial look to it—one that will complement a dress shirt nicely. Bold, silver-accented Arabic numerals at 12 and 4 characterize the dial. In between them are thick outlined indices with minute markers in intervals of five just outside of them. A semicircular date track shows the current day and those before and after it, above which is listed the impressive 300-meter water resistance rating. The hour and minutes hands are pointed and prominent, and the seconds hand is offset by a crescent-shaped counterbalance. Inside the hefty stainless steel case is an AN2846-10 23-jewel automatic movement that provides 36 hours of power.

In 1875 begins the story of Armand Nicolet, where, under his father, the founder of the same name started his watchmaking apprenticeship in the mountain village of Tramelan, Switzerland. In 1902, having demonstrated significant improvement in the trade, Nicolet created his first watch—an automatic rose-gold pocket watch fully loaded with a calendar and chronograph. After over a century of Swiss watchmaking tradition, Armand Nicolet continues to thrive as a boutique watchmaker dedicated to reproducing the timeless designs of old with respect to the modern world’s needs.
