you wouldn't be able to see the rest of the watch clearly. it would probably look like the second picture here: http://forums.watchuseek.com/f109/photographing-tritium-lume-watches-347950.html
even if a real picture was used, the exposure on the camera could also be adjusted to give the impression that the tritium is a lot brighter than it is (the third photo shows this--see the blurred second hand since the exposure appears to be over 10 seconds). Seeing in in person is probably the only way to get a sense of the actual brightness.
