This looks freakin awesome! I know it's meant to attach to an office chair but would it work unattached up against a couch as well?

schwengyIt is pretty awesome. Thanks! Our team is at the Consumer Electronics Show and the response of everyone that's seen it in person is incredibly positive. You really need to attach it to a chair with five star base to work properly. You take off two casters to lock the chair to the Velocita. Other wise it won't remain in position. If you pushed on the pedal while sitting on a couch, you would probably just push it away.

schwengyI'll add to this as I just received mine. The chair adds needed stability to the unit as it doesn't have a wide "footprint" and the chair, with the players weight, keep the unit firmly in place on the ground. If you were to go without a chair attached you'd need to DIY some way to secure the unit to a base for stability.
