Was very excited to discover that my two chairs (one blue for my partner, one red for me) had arrived today--I didn't realize they had even shipped until this afternoon! Then watch my excitement drain quickly into resentment as I discovered that my chair had the same issue described below by mingdom and (to a lesser extent) Greencheezy--one of the recliner arms that attaches the seat to the backrest is significantly bent inward, making it impossible to attach them to each other. As it is, my partner has a functional chair that is pretty sturdy and comfortable, and I'm stuck with a bunch of useless chair parts taking up a crapload of space in my living room.
(Additionally, one of the bolts in the backrest either didn't come with a washer, or the washer was stuck behind the leather and thus became irretrievably lost inside the chair. Not sure which, but I couldn't hear any rattling while I was shaking the backrest in different directions for a good five minutes straight!)
I just opened an issue with Massdrop explaining my issues, so we'll see what happens there. (I suspect I may just get redirected to Arozzi support...) Still feeling quite irate about the situation though, I decided I'd take to the drop discussion to vent a bit and give other members a heads-up about these issues. All told, I am somewhat less than impressed. I think that either Arozzi needs to invest a lot more in quality control, or Arozzi/Massdrop needs to revisit their shipping/packaging practices, because at least one of those two areas failed suffered a pretty drastic failure in between the manufacturer and my mailroom.
The working chair seems very smooth so far, and is comfy without just absorbing your butt. Just a shame only 50% of them WERE working.

kevinhbHi, we are sorry you had a less than ideal out of the box experience. Contact our service team, service@arozzi.com and you will be taken care of. As I have mentioned before in these discussion groups, we do have very good quality control. But sometimes things get through that shouldn't...that is a normal by-product of mass production. Even very highly respected companies like Apple, Mercedes and Sony have defects or occasional issues. That's why we have a service team and a warranty.

ArozziScottAppreciate the response Scott, I did so shortly after your message. I have received confirmation that a replacement base was shipped, which I'm quite happy about.
Speaking seriously though, I know that I was a bit hyperbolic in my above comment (as frustrated people are wont to do), and I'm sure you have quite good QC. But... I am also serious about the possibility of shipping issues. Honestly a bent reclining arm seems like something that WOULD be caught during QC, which is why I think the actual issue might be later in the chain. Given that a very similar issue was mentioned by (at least) two other people in the discussion for previous iterations of this drop, it kind of seems like it's more common than it should be for these reclining arms to get bent in transit. I dunno if it could be addressed by just packaging the parts somewhat differently in the box, or if Massdrop is somehow cheaping out on the shipping which results in less careful handling, or what, but it seems worth looking into.
Anyway, as long as I ultimately have a working chair I'm happy! I just feel like it's worthwhile to bring attention to it, in the hopes that fewer people (Arozzi included!) will have to waste time/money on shipping replacement parts.
kevinhbThanks for the nice reply and I am glad we're getting you taken care of.
Those three companies I mentioned as having occasional issues, were not random. I have direct experience with each of defective products. The most bizarre, a new Mercedes sedan I took delivery of in January and did not discover until the first warm day in April that the cooling part of the AC system did not work at all. Also a problem you think would have been caught but, who knows?

ArozziScottSigh. Well, my replacement seat base just arrived less than an hour ago. After dollying the box into my apartment's elevator, I noticed with dismay that one of the reclining arms was actually protruding out of the box, as it had apparently shifted enough in transit for the arm to swing flat and punch all the way through the cardboard!
Ever hopeful, I took it upstairs and unpacked it. Interestingly, the arm that was punched through the box seems to be totally straight (as far as I have any reference to judge it by.) However, once again the arm on the lever side makes a slightly LESS than 90-degree angle with the seat base. IOW, the two reclining arms are VISIBLY not at the same angle. This time it is subtle enough that I can actually fit the seat back in between the reclining arms, although it still takes a little bit more squeezing to make it fit than it seems it should.
At this stage I'm still too worried to try actually attaching the bolts to see whether the backrest sits straight, because I'm still missing one washer and I'm worried I won't be able to disassemble the chair if it turns out to be wonky. Then if I screw up and rip the PU leather or something, it'll be my fault and not Arozzi's. But I'm also not sure I want to wait for another replacement seat base before I can use my chair because of this silly issue.
Just saying, it seems like the issues with shipping are more serious than I thought.

kevinhbImmediate update: I decided I don't have that much patience and I went ahead and attached the seatback (only _mostly_ screwing in the washerless bolt, since I should be able to find my own replacement washer easily enough.)
As you can see the seatback is... visibly not quite aligned with the seat base. Having sat in it on my living room floor, I don't seem to be able to feel a slant, so that much is good. I'll have to see if that remains the case once I swap in the armrests from the old seat base (pictured in the background) but at the very least I expect that it will make the misalignment even more visible. Still, for now I have somewhere to sit.

EDIT: The arms look okay! I think they actually make it a little bit LESS obvious that the seat is crooked, which is nice. At this point I don't feel inclined to go through Arozzi service a second time (despite their quick response.) I'm just updating because I'm hoping that these issues will be investigated for the sake of future customers.
kevinhbObviously something isn't right here. We'll be in touch.
kevinhbI have EXACTLY the same problem with my chair, the side with the levered release was bent inward excessively and it makes a slight tilt to the chair. I made the mistake of manually trying to rebend it outward some and in the process released the lever where the very high springload caused the arm to hit my arm with a very large force...luckily I had layers of jacket on at the time or I may have had more than bruising. I also had the washer stuck under the leather issue but was thankfully able to get mine out by pounding/prying it a bit with tools. I otherwise love the chair and it feels great on my upper body and back. Is there a solution to this Arozzi and will my chair last long slightly angled??
