Any recommendations for a 6S battery? I'm still learning the acronyms. Any help understanding this battery technology would be appreciated. Is this a good 6S battery for the Kraton: "DLG 30C Burst 60C 6S 5000mAh 22.2V LiPO Li-Po High-Discharge Rate Powerful Battery with Dean's T Plug ". Suggested supplier for a good 6S battery?

lonestar_0You will likely save some cash doing the two 3s packs set up, the truck comes set up to run both configs as far as I know(I have the Typhon, same platform). Also, since there are no inexpensive 6s packs, you'll want to really care for them well, you want a substantial charger that will balance charge and not take several hours, which is what will result with a 50 watt charger. Just a FYI heads up. Amps x C rate determines the (advertised)potential of a battery. A 5000(5 amp) battery at 30C is really pushing the minimal limit. Might be fine for back yard play, run up and down the street making full throttle passes, or across a park where grass puts a load on and something might get hot somewhere as the battery struggles to provide current. I give up on searching batteries, SMC gets my money. Hard to beat, and usually the lowest prices. Also, they refuse to sell junk, unlike other well known overpriced underperforming brands...cough cough....Venom.

lonestar_0Ditto on SMC. They get my money as well. Best batteries I have. Although Venom does have an excellent warranty policy (I've changed out the same battery 2 times over 2 years with no problems for free!) but they are pricey.

lonestar_0Having owned a few Arrma products...I wouldn't run 6s. Granted it was the old 180A line of esc's and this has the reported "fixed" 185A esc in it. Every 6s run for me resulted in fried esc. I'm excited to try the new 185A esc, but will steer away from 6s unless you plan on racing or something. Nothing worse than charging up a bunch of expensive 6s batteries, driving somewhere cool for the day, and frying the esc on the first run.

lonestar_0Keep in mind this truck is set up with xt90 battery connectors. You will need to do some soldering if you want to use deans.

Cl-AudioEven when running 2 3s batteries? I would assume it would be XT-60 for 3s. Would be a shame to have to put new connectors on all my 3s batteries. Hopefully they went with the 60 and not 90 for the 2 battery setup.

PowerScissordon't resolder your battery connectors, just make an adapter from xt 60 to xt 90

san1c59That was my first instinct...just wondering if there's a reason they went to the XT-90 like issues with the XT-60. If so I'd rather eliminate it from the picture altogether. Probably make a few runs with adapters first. I've never ever had an issue with XT-60 so wonder the teason for the move.

PowerScissorPowerScissor...thank you for the reply. I hear you about the 6S LiPo. Would you have the same opinion about this Vant battery I purchased from Amazon? : https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0145HZ7XS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I already had it on order when your comment came through. It seems to have some good reviews from Arram users. Thanks again. By the way....what does "esc" stand for....is it the controller interface?

lonestar_0Electronic Speed Controller. It's simply put what controls the speed of the motor...and depending on the situation & Application converting DC to AC.

PowerScissorThe new electronics probably get really hot under load with 6S power. So the move to the larger connector with a higher amp rating and thicker guage wire will improve on saftey and performance under continuous amp draw. Considering Arrma's track record with the previous ESC issues seems like a good move. Just my thoughts on that.
