Actually I kinda dig it one if you think of it like a Fox DART you gain a direct thrust application the ergonomics look right and the eyelet could be modded to perform as a wave function so as a sub 50 knife one could more easily afford 2 and one orange and one black then turn thier orange one into a trainer. It's D2 so a reasonable steel, and claims to run a bearing so it should be smooth. I'm guessing the bolts will need a health dose of lock tight. My biggest confusion is in the description it states as tip down carry, when the bolt holes are definitely on the tail of the hilt so it has to be a miss type and be tip up. If one takes a tally that is two for two in the miss type's for the Massdrop's edit team. I would suggests they need a vacation.
Jax1I think you are on the mark about this one...Artisan Cutlery site says ceramic ball bearings, and it looks easy enough to modify it into a wave opener. Certainly a unique blade profile for a karambit - I think you're right, seems like it'd open up some tactical and control maneuvers vs. trad "tiger claw" shape (says the definedly NON-expert). Clip is definitely tip up - what's the point of a karambit with the ring buried in your pocket - even a cover plate for the non clip side_ something even the Chiroptera (also currently on MD) doesn't have. The lock looks like it's buried enough to avoid accidentally unlocking it during use. I did find one site showing the "breakaway ring" open....might hafta get one just to see - it's certainly priced well. Here's the image of the ring from SMKW, tho I don't know if it's the same model or not... Man, I've got to stop buying knives.

granitestateofmindI was hoping that the break away was another typo... at least it will be a template for making a solid ring so when I'm using it at extended range I don't leave my knife in the target.... what the heck it the thought process behind a break away ring? Not to have your finger broken in a disarm???? The entire point of a ring is retention if your worried about being disarmed you get a karambet! Some strange thought went into this knife design for sure.
Jax1maybe the breakaway ring is so the cops CAN'T classify it as a knuckle knife, as @Kavik said...tho it also disqualifies it from being an actual karambit. I had some concern about the inside diameter of the ring, anyway....now, I'm not concerned, -because I've lost interest. Plus, AFAIK, the word "karambit" doesn't appear in the drop description...perhaps because it isn't one. I fold.
