I'm not sure what it is about Artisan, but nothing makes me want to buy one, especially not over my favorite brands. It's just me I suppose lol.

Got to see the Proponent (full size and compact versions) at Blade show 2019 and snagged some good footage of Artisan Cutlery explaining a bit about the knife, and what makes it unique. Link here: https://youtu.be/r1IfWPjzpcw?t=401

For a little more money one can buy an M390 version "Ravine." $180 however is not a bad price for what you're getting from DROP. And no, I'm not selling my ARKTIKA and Pretorian! Most of Medford's are D2, a much cheaper steel than s35vn, and certainly much cheaper than M390. but D2 happens to be a great, high performance steel - don't cut yourselves with it! You can spend a little more and get other steels from Medford. He thinks it's a waste of money. You can also bet that when the origins are not specified, they are from the Orient.

With a blade as thick as the DROP sample, I would not worry about breakage in s35vn OR....D2. Of course, speaking about robust, macho and over the top, nothing out there compares to the COBRA Carillo knife, pictured just above and below. The other slab side is OD G10.

Anyone know why this was renamed from "Fulcrum" to "Proponent"? I assume it's the same as before?

perlhkrI don’t know, but there was a CRKT knife called “Fulcrum”. Maybe a conflict there?

without looking at the dimension, you woulda thought that it's a small 7-inch knife like a kizer rogue. 10oz holy crap!

massdrop01Yeah, i was excited until I saw the size. To me, this shape makes more sense as a smaller knife - 3" blade max. if they make a smaller one, I'm in.
Does anyone know if it’s on bearing???

SluggoleatherworksI have watched a few videos and they all mentioned ceramic bearings, so I believe so.

You can buy this knife on life with immediate delivery, full warranty for $179.95. If I spend more time I maybe could find it for less.

It says there were 6 sold .... anyone willing to post an update, some pics, etc.? It's a "curious looking" design to say the least, but there are no videos posted anywhere yet, and the pics on Artisan's site help a little, as far as getting additional angles to view, but not really. It looks like the blade is around 2.5 - 2.85", then an additional 1+" by means of that exaggerated tip. The more I look at it, the more I really want one now :-)
