Really unhappy with this knife. I was looking forward to purchasing from a new company. I received the knife today and noticed immediatly the blade is bent. I haven’t sharpened it or anything, my stone was out so I used it as a prop to keep the knife flush for the photo. You can clearly see the blade is bent. I have purchased numerous, numerous knives through mass drop and this is the first knife that I want to return for a refund.

Capta1nFalc0nIs the blade itself bent or is it coming out of the handle at an angle? This is actually pretty common with folders and pretty annoying. I don't know why it happens, whether the tang is ground crooked or something about the pressure the lockbar exerts on the blade. Whatever it is I hate it. Mine usually slant to the opposite side of yours, though.

JKreeseI think the blade is just coming out at an angle. I don’t think the blade itself is actually bent. If I take the knife apart do you think there is anything I could do to fix the situation. I actually ended up keeping the knife and using as my edc beater since it was crooked, and i do really like the knife, I was just annoyed about the blade.

JKreeseI actually think I’m just going to take the whole thing apart and lay the blade on a flat surface, I figure that should help determine if the blade itself is bent or if it’s just how it’s sitting In the knife handle.

Capta1nFalc0nThe only thing I could think of short of grinding the blade or handles, which could easily lead to disaster, is to take the knife apart and swap the bearings. You have technically 4 positions for the bearings, i.e. which side of the blade the bearing is on (L or R) and the orientation of the bearings as in the bearing has an open side to the cage and a closed side, you can flip it over. Honestly it probably won't make any difference but wouldn't hurt to try. Increasing or decreasing the tension of the lockbar might also do something, but I don't recommend adjusting that because proper lockbar tension is critical for the flipping action and proper lockup...and it might not help either.

JKreeseHey thanks for the reply, I will take it apart and play around with it (hopefully tonight if I get out of work at a decent time) and will post an update with how it goes. Might be a couple days though.

Capta1nFalc0nBut I would've contacted Massdrop to return it...I know that doesn't help now but especially with something as obvious as this they will take it back and refund, or possibly exchange.

JKreeseYeah I should have done that, you’re right. Now I’m dealing with a new nightmare, I ordered the kizer alter ego and I got a lock pick set instead

Capta1nFalc0nDon't worry, they will get you sorted out. They will pay to return the lockpicks unless they decide you can keep them, which would be cool. Hopefully they'll send the knife at the same time.
