Like an old-school switchblade, the Artisan Hornet is quick to open and exceptional at piercing. While it can’t open quite as fast as a switchblade, it certainly comes close Read More
I'll get one to compare to my modified Benchmade stimulus as I also employed a double grind to emulate a "dolch". Considering the prices, this one would be an interesting alternative
Edit: not so, see my review
I bought the Carbon Fiber version. It is one beautiful knife! I wish they had a smaller one to offer also. This knife is a bit big for EDC. But it is on very nice knife for the price!
If one option is sold out (carbon fiber is right now), will it come back into stock later in the drop or do we have to wait for this drop to happen again, if ever, to choose that option?
See my comments on frame locks and auto blades under the (gag, barf) "tactical" knives discussion. if the spur / guard on the top edge of the blade acts as a "open on withdraw" hook (like the Cold Steel Ti-Lite), this blade can open faster and more safely than an auto.
The glass breaker is a useless feature that can actually injure the user's hand, depending on the grip / thrust of the knife. PASS
This is certainly a fine knife in many ways. Lots of different models of this brand are auctioned on eBay and a few at lower prices than this one for asking or buy it now price. Basically, this is tactical knife with a very quick opening function. As was said, similar to a switchblade. However, switchblades not only open speedily, they also lock into place until released. I see nothing in the description of this knife to suggest it has a lockback function which is a major consideration as a safety feature. You don't want to blade to ever close on you inadvertantly during operation or use. It's a serious consideration.
Spartan123I discovered the same thing by going to the website. Most of the higher end knives like this are made by Two Sun and it seems they all employ the ball bearing action with a thumb stud and a liner lock. However, there's far greater selection of these knives on eBay which can be won at auction for very reasonable prices. Once I discovered that, I wound up winning two at exceptionally low cost and will likely do one or two more purchases the same way.
