With a bowed curve from the tip of the blade to the pommel of the handle, the Artisan Cutlery waistline mimics the curves of the human body. It’s not bad in the human hand, either Read More
I purchased the D2/Carbon Fiber version. The knife is smooth, looks badass and came dull like a butter knife. Ok, perhaps a little sharper than that, butit would not shave the hair off my arm, not even a little. I am talking normal human arm hair, not monkey hair or worse.
I love the look and shape of it. The handle thickness while clearly stated in the specs, is pretty thick in the hand, so feels pretty good holding it. It's a tad thick for your pocket. It's like a couple of packs of gum stuck together with maybe one piece missing.
It's likely the perfect stabber and does semi-resemble a mini sword.
I'd consider buying it again, the blade shape itself is truly cool and the steel thickness at the top of the blade is awesome, and the lockup is strong, but unless your knife shows up differently than mine, you'll end up sharpening it pretty quickly.
Great looking and great handling knife. I ordered it in the orange handles because a lot of my knives in my collection have ether wood or black handles. The shape of the blade and handles really sets it apart from the other knife shapes. A real nice addition to my collection. Thanks, Randy.
Nice smooth quick action, blasted blade finish , Carbon Fiber handle and a sexy lookin blade! Gonna have to find a nice bead to lace onto this baby because she’s riding with me! Didn’t get any metal presentation box...however a nice cardboard box worked just fine and easier for me to dispose of 😎
I ordered the black Ti-handled Waistline in M390, and I’m a very happy camper . . . not least because it got delivered by USPS from Missouri in less than a day and a half, without paying any premium for expedited shipping! Literally didn’t see that coming!
I was also impressed by Artisan Cutlery’s presentation of its product. I usually snooze through the “unboxing” segments of online product reviews, but even I was impressed by the layers of coddling: a knife inside a plastic sleeve – alongwitha desiccant packet – inside a plush-lined zippered case, inside a lovely lidded metal (aluminum?) box, inside the usual branded cardboard sleeve. Most of it I’ve seen before, but the box and packet were new, and nice touches.
Though you wouldn’t know it from the drop’s Description or Specs sections, this version has a very solid frame-lock, and is almost half an ounce lighter than the G-10 liner-lock ones. The blade wasn’t stonewashed, either, but has a satin finish along the spine, with a high polish on the grind. Smooth deployment, with a solid lockup, and amazingly quick; the blade drops closed, and is perfectly centered. The texturing on the titanium is sufficiently “grippy.” The only design drawback I see is the choice of slotted fastener heads for the standoff at the bottom of the frame, instead of something like Torx-head bolts. The edges of the slots are so sharp they could actually draw blood.
Although, as noted elsewhere, this knife is almost laughably “pointy”, it doesn’t strike me as fragile or delicate at all. I think that’s because of the 3.8mm thickness of the blade, which doesn’t start to taper to that point until the last inch of its length. I don’t plan on prying anything with the tip, or any such jackassery, but with the knife in hand, I now feel much more confident about its durability. I’m a likin’ it a lot!
It’s a matter of opinion. Like I said in my last comment, I wouldn’t have purchased the knife to begin with had I seen it and handled it beforehand. I didn’t give it 1 star because of buyers remorse. That’s not the knife or Artisan’s fault at all. It’s not a knife I would recommend to a friend. Therefore, 1 star.
AtomikTumbleweedSome actual feedback would probably be much better received. What about this knife don't you like? What are perceived design flaws or quality concerns you have with it? Folks like me would actually really appreciate that as it could help in a decision to buy it or not.
I love it. I got the rounded grip panels and would recommend them. Good in the hand, comfortable and very fast smooth opening. While the tip is delicate, I'm saving this for defense. My other knife gets pulled for cutting cardboard and other utilitarian tasks. A quality build!
