Disappointed to find what i thought was an exclusive buy for massdrop subscribers is actually a line run out of a product that is listed as legacy by the manufacturer. Fooled me twice, shamed..

ansaI'm not sure how that matters. For me, is the product good? Is it a good price for the product compared to what is available today? If the answers are both yes, then it just isn't a factor for me.

vitopthis was being sold in 2005, its a runout, its no longer being produced and its been supeceded by better products, so no, its not good, no its not a good price compared to the new products available. the answer was obvious and should be a factor for you. for everyone. what a crock, this should be marketed as a runout product, a leftover, a 'was good 12 years ago and we want to empty our warehouses' product. this makes me want to check all the buys...

ansaStill don't get your perspective. I looked at pricing for their new stuff but could not find a product that was a direct match. They went to a more expensive, larger in wall from what I can tell. Maybe I just missed their direct replacement. The new one I saw was $3200. Yes it's better.
That does not make the previous product bad. It just means that they discontinued it and made a new one. Crutchfield is still selling these at $699
The price here is $160. That is 23% of what they are also selling a discontinued model for. If you told me that I could buy a last model car for 23% of the price because they came out with a new model, I'd be all over it if I liked the car. I just don't get your stance on it, but I don't really need to. Everyone has their own way of looking at things. I think it's a good deal and joined the drop. You do not and did not. Nothing wrong with either position as far as I'm concerned.

ansaMay I ask what you feel sounds better for $160 for a pair of surround speakers?

ansaI'd also like to know what you think would be a better deal for $160. I'm on the fence on this one, I'd gladly buy other speakers if I thought they were a better deal, on this site or any other. I'm not an audio expert by any means, so I'm more than willing to check out other options that someone vouches for!

DelyMy buy price came in at US$280.00 for a pair with delivery. For that price there are a bunch of options, but what i have discovered is that speakers need to be based around the amp/surround system, which is based on your room. So what surround amplifier do you have?

ansaCan you propose a few that would be better for the price? The speaker brand and model number? Honestly, I don't see any better even at $280, but I don't know the market that well. But at $160 I don't see anything that even comes close.

ansaThis is just for a basic home theater setup. We have this receiver: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00YAO43YG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s03?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The room is part of a larger area, but the main area where we will be watching in is about 20'x20'. I want decent sound for both music and movies/tv - but I'm not an expert. I can tell the difference between crappy, good and and awesome, but I won't really appreciate the difference between really good and amazing. And my buy price (I'm in the US) is about 180 with shipping included in that.

DelyThere are a couple of models i should have looked at first. One is the klipsch http://www.klipsch.com/products/thx-ultra2-in-wall-speakers which is by far the best value for dollar in wall on the market, or if price is your driving factor then these Yamahas are still a better choice https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000981H8M/ref=pd_aw_vtph_23_lp_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=A08BN2RJA25G4H2E0MJH But bare in mind, the Artison, like any other system, needs front, rear and a sub-woofer powered by an amp like yours to give you surround sound.

ansaI don't understand... I thought the criteria was $160 for a pair. Those Klipsch's you posted a link to are $289 a piece or $578
I would not say that is a fair comparison. I can find far better than the Klipsch's if we are not going to stay at $160 and price is not a criteria.

ansaThe Klipsch in this post are also over the $160 per pair, but the Yamaha are in the same price range. They won't work for me because I need a dipole since I am right up against the back wall. I have no idea how good the Yamaha are. I think the $120 price point appears to be their retail whereas the Artison sold for $600 or $300 each so they seem to be the best buy for the money, but just my thoughts. I have not heard either one.
