@ashlandleather A few questions if you don't mind: 1. Which grain of leather is used on these - full grain or top grain or...? 2. Are these completely hand made? 3. I typically carry notes about 177 x 73 mm (W x H) - will these fit comfortably? How about coins? 4. What kind of warranty/ guarantee do you offer on this and how will this be managed for international buyers? 5. Only one note pocket seems a little sparse - any chance you can do 2 or is that coming up in another drop?
@Current buyers - Which color options are you leaning towards and why?
@Past buyers - Can you share a few more pics of your wallets? Thanks!
deaman312Great questions. Thanks so much! 1) I view this as a trick question because all full grain leather is top grain leather. The Latigo is completely full grain and the Chromexcel is a polished grain. The term "top grain" is a marketing spin word. During the tanning process all pieces of leather need to be split to an even thickness. In the splitting process a byproduct is made called a split (on the bottom) and the part you want that we just call leather (on the top). Every piece of leather that Horween makes is top grain. 2) These are handcrafted and machine sewn. 3) The Johnny the Fox is designed to fit US dollars. 4) All of my wallets are guaranteed forever. If something rips, the stitching comes out, or any other issues just let me know and I will repair or replace the wallet at no charge. 5) I have tried doing a bill slot divider but I don't like it. It adds about 2mm of thickness to the wallet (the leather is about 1mm thick, then folded in half).

ashlandleatherHey there ,
Thanks for the reply. Especially great to know about the lifetime guarantee. I understood Full grain to mean uncorrected leather (so cows who live in decent conditions don't have many marks on them and hence give you good "Full Grain" leather) and top grain leather to be leather where the marks and blemishes have been corrected or removed. Would you still say the leather used here it Top grain?
Also, a US dollar bill is 156 x 66 mm. In comparison, A 500 Euro bill - 160 x 82 mm A 500 Indian Rupee note - 177 x 73 mm A 100 Chinese Yen note - 155 x 77 mm which leads me to ask - why have you excluding a large % of the world's population from your design considerations when making this wallet? Or will these notes fit?
deaman312I refuse to use the term top grain because it's not a thing in my mind. You will not see prominent scratches/scars/etc as we cut around any imperfections.
Kind of a simple answer for your note size question: I live in the US and am familiar with the currency size. I have a tough time keeping up with the demand in the current models but it would be a good problem to have to eventually get big enough to worry about foreign bills specifically. I have different models, like the Fat Herbie, that fit all of the world's paper currencies.

ashlandleatherFair enough. Thank you for your replies. Love the look of, the offered quality and the story behind this wallet but my notes will most likely not fit. Maybe this drop isn't for me?:(

deaman312I am not sure if this is the best solution, but if you want this particular wallet you might concider just folding the bill in a half to fit it in.
P.S: I have read that the chromexel can be made from horsehide and from cowhide, so is it horsehide or cowhide?
megical_bananaThe chromexcel used in these wallets are all bovine (steers)

ashlandleatherWhat would you suggest, getting the black chromexel exterior or the Horween teal horsehide exterior?
megical_bananaI think it depends on your personal style. The only difference on the interior is color. For the exterior, if you have a more classic style go for the black. If you are a more adventurous dresser and like to make a statement definitely get the teal exterior. If you scroll down in the comments you can see how amazingly the teal latigo ages and patinas!
