Did anyone else notice that wallets in this particular drop were shipped more cheaply than products by Ashland Leather have been in the past? Mine came via USPS, which is fine, but it was packed in a really flimsy manila envelope that didn't protect the structure of the product box or wallet. The box mine came in was bent at the bottom, and while I expect items like wallets to have slight flaws, the flaw on my wallet just happens to be exactly where the box was bent, which makes me think the wallet didn't have that flaw before it was shipped.
Mind you, the flaw is quite minor, and I wouldn't have sent the wallet back, but it irritates me that the flaw wouldn't be there if a $70 wallet hadn't been shipped like a $3.00 USB cable.

VarholiaglimpMassdrop chooses the shipping method not Ashland so they are the one to blame.

ChitownM2True, but there was a change in Massdrop's choice of packaging materials and methods roughly at the time I wrote that post. The reason I mentioned the $3.00 cable is because Massdrop used to take greater care shipping those than they do now with Ashland wallets and more expensive items I've received. Some members reported receiving Cavalli amps with shipping labels applied to the product box.
That's why I didn't blame Ashland directly, though, rereading my previous post, I can see why you might have construed it as implying blame.
You've probably been a member for a long time if you've got 588 likes, so I expect you noticed the change in shipping materials. For one thing, whatever I've bought has not been secured in the shipping box with styrofoam or bubble wrap, but usually has been sent free floating, which I fail to understand. Don't damaged products come back to haunt the companies that make them and Massdrop itself for offering them? You'd think that might mean something, since massive returns can result in fewer purchases and bad PR.

VarholiaglimpI agree with you.
As far as I know, all of the products MD sells are sent to them in bulk by the vendor. For example, I imagine Ashland packages 50 or 60 wallets into a box and send one box to MD. MD then repackaged then into individual boxes for shipment to us so they are the ones doing the inadequate packaging. I think a part of the problem is MD needs to stop using third party companies to sort, package, and ship the products. They are big enough now that they need to bring this in house. MD is selling specialty products to niche markets and these third party warehousing/distribution companies don't provide the level of service that is expected when buying premium goods.
