I like the compact design but, I would be very hesitant to use anything with carbide on my knives. It wrecks the blade. Ceramic would be better.

I meant the offering in Docgonz link, as opposed to this drop which in deed does include the leather sheat.

These style sharpeners should not be used on any good knifes. They remove to much metal shortening the life of your knife.

btjrFor example the sharpener I have is http://www.amazon.com/Smiths-PP1-Pocket-Multifunction-Sharpener/dp/B000O8OTNC which not only is cheaper and free shipping (if you have prime) but it has a ceramic part. Most of the time I just run it through the ceramic one a few times to keep a sharp edge. Think I only used the carbide section once on a real cheap pocket knife I have never sharpened before.

Typo, its Tony's Sharpeners. Also would this be good for a chef's knife? Like the mac one that dropped?
