Tlbrown63Yeah, for those mutha fu**ers that think the more expensive it is, the better it's going to sound...All part of believing the advertising hype and sheeples misguided opinions as usual.
XpfreakyHaha let me translate your statement for you: "Yea, for those mutha fu**ers who have more money than me and can afford nicer things than I can" Don't hate dude...I promise, we won't judge you. You can stick to your beats and your cell phone. Damn when did Massdrop attract all these damn welfare loving people who complain every time they list something that costs more than $9.99.
ozzymoY'all are missing da point ... it aint about being welfarish dependent. It's about "really"? If I got it, Im gonna flaunt it...were all sheeple, believing the hype 'cause someone told you so. Peeps make your own decisions and read between the lines,it's all good!
XpfreakyI would wager that less than 1% of the population even knows what an AK240 is. Can't really be flaunting something when no one has a clue what it is. My boss saw mine a while back and said what the heck is that old fat, ugly phone you are using. Having the newest iPhone and a pair of shiny beats I guess could be considered flaunting it. An AK240 definitely not. Anyone who buys this wants the best sound quality and a lot of storage space. One of the advantages to the free market we have is that there is a wide variety of available devices to purchase from a $9.99 MP3 player all the way up to a $4,999 DAP. If there is no market for it and people are not willing to pay the price then the market will adjust itself. Obviously there is a healthy market for these DAPs as Astell & Kern are seemingly coming out with new models every other month. It's easy to say sheeple and all that; I guarantee if you put an iPhone and a pair of ear buds up against the AK240 and a decent pair of IEMs you will get your world rocked.
ozzymoYes sure, if ya got the dough & believe that it gets you too where you wanna be, then yeah, why not?
The thing is there will always be something "better" and even more expensive to come along, cuz we believe it will make the listening pleasure more enjoyable of course. Gotta remember "audiophiles are special kinds of peeps, they know a thing about sound"..
XpfreakyI'm pretty sure a Ford Pinto will transport anyone to and from work. Why do they make Porsches and Lambos? I'm pretty sure a 19" CRT monitor will let me watch DVD's. Why do they make big screen OLEDs and 4K Blu-rays? I'm pretty sure I can make a call on an old rotary telephone. Why do they make $1,000 iPhone X's? I'm pretty sure all of these luxuries are because of the "experience". A Porsche, OLED tv, and an iPhone X sure give you one hell of an experience. They are not necessities, but if one has the cash; they can spend it how they see fit and receive the experience commiserate to the amount of disposable income they have available.
ozzymoMy 2 cents it’s all about the music friend. The Beatles were listenkng to music recorded in Mono with archaic playback devices. Who’s to say that fella with beats and an iPhone is enjoying their music any less than you ? We can put a price to a DAP. But that feeling of blissfully listening to music which we love is pretty much priceless. Irrespective of device used.
g6100sI'm just going to put out my opinion out as well. Audiophiles love their music, and they want to and are willing to fork out money to squeeeeze the most out of their high quality music. It's not only for the love of music, but also for the listening experience. They want to feel every timbre of every instrument used, every vibration in the highs and lows. Of course, that guy with beats and iPhone is enjoying their music, but who says you can't make the most out of your music? Ozzymo has put it well; it's simply a matter of passion for the ultimate experience.
CokemanOr people that aren't rich but love music and will save up and spend their hard earned money to get what sounds amazing. I'd rather spend less and get something like 85-90% of the quality. But I'd never fault those that want the highest quality and go out and get it.
I used to have a lot more disposable income than I do now. A. Lot. And I have friends who think I'm nuts I'll drop $160 on Hifiman HE-4XXs and another couple hundred on a Schiit stack.
All while I'm wishing I could finagle $1G to get what I really want.
But I won't hate on them. Only Beats owners. LOL
