I've been wanting to purchase a new DAP for the past 3 years. My 6th gen ipod nano is barely limping by at this point.
My question. Is this particular device worth $200? Obviously anything is going to seem light years ahead of the nano(my motorola moto G plus nearly blew my damn pants off the first time I had to resort to playing music on there-still, i want a dedicated player).
Also, how easy would something like this be for someone who's stupid and lazy. When it comes to tech, my brain don't work too good. If i'm going to invest anything over $150 on something, then I'd like to at least be able to load all of my old music and anything thereafter without causing myself too much grief or aggravation.
So, is this worth the price of admission? Hold off for "X", instead? If so, what is "X"? Thanks dudes and dudettes of the audio community.

TacotimeIf want to go buy by the specs go with the brand of Fiio but you will be looked down upon those in the audiophile community for "being poor" but if you don't want that go with all A&K daps they tend to be more expensive but that is what you get for that lifestyle. The chip in this is the same one found in the ipod nano so they will sound similar. That said the chip is Wolfson made by CS they tend to have all similar style of sound opposite of the AKM style of chips. Imo sounds sound what close to an ess... sort of.

IcywolfeAnyone who would look down on you for not buying an A&K probably listens to awful music like Huey and the News and always needs to return video tapes.

MeastyGo into audiophile forums to see that. It's really odd I suppose buyer's remorse especially after know you used the same amount as something like Fine Art or a Computer or a Car.

TacotimeFrom what I understand, amother popular brand that sounds better for the price but is harder to use and bulkier is Fiio. A&K is a brand that charges a premium but has products that look good and is a bit easier to use.
Sort of like old school Android vs Apple. Power and utility vs ease of use and aesthetics.
If you just want to make your computer sound better, an option is something the Fiio 11 or Audioquest Dragonfly. They may work with your phone with adapters but I’m not sure.

BreezyFiio makes daps too. They aren't just stacking.
The chip in this, jr, isn't all that high end and it's not really mid end. There is a real bug with UI on the JR that they didn't care to fix until the next model up.
With A&K you are paying for the name and their modern blade design. Most other companies you pay for the hardware.

IcywolfeYou must be visiting the wrong forums... Where I've been most of the praise seems to be going to pricey Sony DAPs and a couple Fiios (X5 in particular, tho I'm curious about their new Q5 DAC/amp, reminds me of the much praised Leckerton I wanted a couple years ago).
