Ok first guys, there is NO POSSIBLE WAY the 1400 lumen claim is accurate or even CLOSE to accurate. Even top of the line flashlight manufacturers like Surefire and Zebralight don't even have lights that deliver 1400 lumen even with an 18650 battery and this runs only on a 14500! I suspect the true max output is between 800 and 900 lumen. I am friends with Vinh Nguyen who owns Sky Lumen, a flashlight customization shop, and flashlights and light modding are kinda my thing so I know what I'm talking about here. The brightest production flashlight with a single cell battery is the Zebralight SC63 and its only 1300 lumen and that's with an 18650, not a 14500.

Jalucian1400 lumens are entirely possible. The difference between a 14500 and 18650 is capacity. A 14500 will run for a shorter time, but can output the same current. (At really high discharge rates, there is probably a difference, and you'll likely damage a 14500 before an 18650 at high draws, but IIRC the max safe draw for an XPL-Hi is slightly over one amp, so that's not a concern here.)
This is, I think, the thread where the this light was "born": http://budgetlightforum.com/node/40642 .
