Things like $40 fidget spinners make me embarrassed to recommend Massdrop to my friends.

hansthecatIf the things an online retailer sells effect you mentally, you may need to reevaluate life.

hansthecatOh no! Someone has a hobby that's different than yours and the items are priced reasonably based on the construction and materials! How embarrassing!

hansthecatClearly trolling. 🙄
While I’ve never been interested in the cheap plastic ones, or this particular style featured here, there are indeed truly collectible premium metal ones that I enjoy.
Plenty of EDC folks include these with their Everyday Carry along with various premium & rare-metal spinning Tops. They are not just for kids (just ask the Funko Pop, or Magic Gathering folks. Plenty of grown adults involved with those “childish” pursuits as well).

hansthecatI imagine the friend that brought me to Massdrop never thought I'd be into $40 spinners, yet, here we are. Harsh judgments are unattractive, BTW.

MuhltrayneAs opposed to "grown adults" playing with toys?

RayFWell if that's unattractive to you then you need to reexamine your priorities because it's not hurting anyone

BlueCrownedIf "not hurting anyone" is your standard of measure, I suppose you must think anything that doesn't hurt anyone is a good thing? Pretty low bar, my friend, pretty low.

namhodNot sure a mild case of embarrassment (an emotion) counts as effecting one "mentally," but I'm sure it's no reason to reevaluate one's life.
On the other hand, grown men playing with tops is a sure sign that the end of our species is just around the corner--could come about as early as next week, but certainly within the next few billion years--mark my words!

guvnorI only get that criticism on these "Adult Toy" drops. And to think, I remember when that term actually applied to Adults.

Funny too that all you boys get so defensive about your little tops and spinners--such a sensitive community!

BlueCrownedThis pricing isnt even good. Its a bearing wrap made of CF. Who cares. Not worth 40 bucks. I'd rather get something from spinetic or damned designs.

BlueCrownedFirst of all, I'm replying to your post because I knew you won't react in a negative way (e.g. I don't want to feed the trolls, so I'm replying to you). You're a user who consistently provides positive feedback and I respect that. This response is really for the community as a whole, however.
It's so sad that such a wonderful community like what we usually have here on Massdrop is tarnished by people who act so negatively and condescendingly towards others. This should be a place where we build each other up, and support each other's interests. Why would anyone rain on someone else's parade?
I don't want to point fingers, as there are multiple people guilty here, just as in similar situations in other communities. I think Massdrop is doing a lot of good things by catering to people's interests, this drop included. But I don't understand why people would ruin each other's days by making such judgments as I have seen here.
Maybe I seem a bit optimistic and naive, but I wish we could all be kind to one another.
