looks like this drop is never going to happen again
will another drop for these be happening anytime soon?
Just received mine from the drop. No customs besides the price and the product name were well visibles. Amazing headphone, good deal when you see french price.
Hey everyone, Happy to report that all the orders from the drop have been shipped out ! Thanks again for the support guys, and please feel free to share your experience of the ATH W1000x with the rest of the group afterwards. If there’s anything else we can do to make your Massdrop experience better, just email us at support@massdrop.com :)
How are these versus say a ATH-W5000?
Got mine a few weeks ago. They are good looking, light (fit nicely on the head) and sound great.
I'd buy this if it was a bit cheaper since it's still a good price for Canadians. There's no customs right?

no customs? heh, you wish... :'( expect $5 customs broker fee + GST , plus PST/HST if applicable to your province.

I don't know that the J$ pads are easy to acquire anymore. He's no longer making them and the left over stock was sold off. Have to pick up second hand used ones these days.
Two popular pad replacements include the L3000 pads or getting J$ pads. I personally use Hifiman pads from their HE series. Velour and leather are the same diameter and both work.
I've heard that the stock pads on these aren't very good. Anyone here know of others that can be used with these?

Stock earpads are cheap pleather. I hate them!
Audio Technica's HP-L3000 are the best, made of genuine Italian lambskin. But they are quite rare and fairly expensive.
JMoney beyer pads are really good, they were about $55 shipped (CONUS).
You could settle for the W5000 pads, they are better than stock but not as comfy as the L3000. Can get them off ebay for less than $80 shipped (INTL), which is still way overprices :(
I got two sets of the W1000X, and tried almost any pad that would fit them. Using L3000 pads for the main set, and JMoney when I'm at work. I like the L3000 better, but no way in hell they're worth it at 100 bucks. (Bought mine in Japan for less than $40)
Sorry to rain on the parade here, but these cans are available for the same price on your favourite online retailer (AMZN).
Leaving this note to suggest that massdrop up their game. I've seen this lack of discount issue on quite a few drops lately.
I saw these on buydig for 329. I voted for these expecting a better price. Oh well, I still enjoy massdrop.
These are now 369.95 shipped from buydig & ebay. We paid 30 bucks extra, plus shipping :(
Wasn't pleased with the price of this drop to begin with, but joined anyway. Sorry MD but I won't repeat the error, next time I'm only joining drops on a *REAL* discount.
I see that the international orders went out today, that's great news!
Can anyone give me some kind of estimate on the time it might take to ship to Canada (Ontario). I just want to make sure I'm around.
Thanks Massdrop for all you do!
Hey guys,
An update for you: All the domestic orders are out! The international orders will be going out next week.
Ash
Thanks for the update.

usa only?
Thanks, Mark!
We cover all warrantees. If anything goes wrong just send it back to us and it will be repaired/replaced.
Emailed both Audio-Technica and Massdrop, we'll see if they reply in time.
Good point, HybrisOne. I went to the Audio Technica website and Massdrop is not listed as an authorized dealer, and according to Audio Technica's website the "product is warranted only when purchased from an Authorized Audio-Technica Dealer." http://www.audio-technica.com/cms/features/49ef9d703e98ba93/index.html So I guess the discount = no warranty? Unless Massdrop says differently?
I think only the w5000 and the limited editions come with cases?
Also wondered how warranties are handled here on Massdrop, since they're not really authorized dealers. Anyone wanna chime in?
sill
I too would like to know about the warranty. Audio Technica tends to be finicky about supporting products that aren't bought by 'authorized dealers'. I get the impression that they will support the product as long as the product is authentic and comes with the warranty card, but no guarantees. It would be nice if massdrop could comment.
Just the headphones I'm afraid. No case, no replacement parts and no adapter either (1/4" jack).
What will be included in the drop? Do these ship with a carrying case of any sort?
I paid 600 for these 2 years ago . I never truly felt so passionate about music until i wore these . They honestly make you feel luxurious and I find myslef polishing the wood once a week. Grab these !!!
I wish I could afford these, I'e always wanted a set. I wonder if the velour pads from my AD900's will fit these. They are over 5 years old and well broken in (very comfy)
@sill Ah, okay! Thanks for the info.
@LQDForce Yeah, for someone like me, then something like this drop is good since I've never dealt with that stuff before. Maybe this drop just happened at the wrong time for it to go down to the 300 range.

Price is always an issue with products that aren't marketed globally. MSRP is irrelevant since this unit isn't readily available in retail stores (CONUS)
Committed. A quick search shows this price is much lower than anything else available in the UK.
Way cheaper than what we get them in Australia for. Too bad I don't have a job lol
edit; amazon japan has them for 399 but with added EMS through tenso it may be a lot more
