Atlantic is relatively unknown in the states, but it's well known in eastern Europe as a luxury watch. The brand survived the quartz crisis by offering their mechanical watches in Soviet bloc countries with little exposure to quartz, so they're famous as "big shot" watches in Poland, Romania, etc where most other options were made in ussr.
A very nice independent Swiss brand if you're looking for something in this price range outside the swatch group and don't want one of those "fake heritage" Swiss brands whose name just got bought up.
