JovanI am so tired of massdrop letting these sorta things fly. There should be a requirement for the drops to list the lowest Amazon price and possible some second place, even third place. Electronics could by default be listed with new egg and Amazon lowest prices etc. Its misleading and gives people a false sense of what deal they are getting. It might end up in fewer things sold, but would properly in the long run push the deals to be better and more like what I imagine Mass drop was initially intended as.

KetilWe have no record of the MSRP price he quotes being correct, so don't take it too seriously. Either way, the list price is not affecting the price we can drop this at.
There certainly can be a difference between MSRP (manufacturer's suggested retail price) and the "street price," so to speak, which is what you're referring to. For instance, the price of a Seiko would probably be different if you bought it in a nice jewelry store instead of online via Amazon. And since you and other folks here are pretty deal-saavy, you know where to look to get the best price (moreso than the average consumer). That said, the MSRP is a constant value whereas the cheapest online price can vary wildly, so for that reason we use the MSRP as a benchmark. Also, when you factor in different countries (we sell things all over the world), the concept of a 'best price' becomes impossible to ascertain. So MSRP, even though it's not always the cheapest price for everyone, is a constant. Regarding showing pricing on Amazon etc, that's not really in our roadmap at all. Many of the products we list aren't sold on other major retailers and/or are exclusive to us, so it doesn't really make sense for us to do that.

KetilWith watches you really do not want to reference Amazon. Most watches on Amazon are sold by Amazon for a third party. There is no manufacturer warranty, and if there is a "seller warranty" you better believe you will have a difficult time getting it, not to mention you must ship your watch for service. You do not want to buy a watch on Amazon. You want to either get it from an authorized dealer or a quality website that has a reputation for service.
Mass Drop clearly lists that the price is the MSRP. That is a formal term that means what the manufacturer suggests. Some manufacturers have responded to foolish people's desire to "always get a good deal" and say that their products are "always on sale." This is unfortunate, but so many moronic consumers engage in self-defeating behavior taht warps all kinds of retail practices (see the cotton DNA-tagging so many reputable clothing and bedding manufacturers now are doing to prove their products really do have Pima cotton, unlike mislabeled garbage sold at Wal-Mart or Target).
You can easily google the product to see what it is selling at. For everything I check out the manufacturer's website will have the listed MSRP matching Mass Drop and Amazon will have a lower price, but often the lowest price will be Asian web retailers. I strongly recommend against buying watches from such sites (I would exclude high-quality watch retailers in Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore like Gnome, Seiya Japan and such). For any watch over $200, it is worth doing some research. If you rely on MSRP you might end up paying real money for an Invictica.
