I got in on the RDK-200 drop with a flat coil. If anyone has any questions I can answer feel free to ask. I currently use a ceramic domless nail with a ceramic dab cap from domeless.com
I personally find a flat coil to be the best, the flat coil heats your nail from beneath the dish. Whereas a 15.8mm or 20mm barrel coil will sit around the dish and heat it from the sides. Ceramic and quartz will offer the best tasting hits, titanium tastes a bit worse, but if you drop it you don't have to worry about it breaking.
Either way moving to an enail was the best thing I did. Easy to use, easy to set up, and heats up quickly.

KabooseI also joined in on the RDK-200 drop. I have not had an issue with it and it constantly gets to 845 quickly (I know, wtf - way too hot; don't judge me) The only thing I recommend is to unplug the unit if you won't be using it for several hours.

Phork@Phork ,
The RDK-300 has been upgraded to have an automatic shut off if you do happen to leave it on but given the extreme nature of the situation It is probably still a good idea to unplug it if not in use.

Can we get a roll call for optimal temperature setting of an E-nail? Personal opinion mind you but I know some people would love to have it.
Cheers!

Jaysun700-750f with the auber universal Ti nail. 800f using my domeless.com ceramic nail. Now what the ACTUAL temperature of the nail I'm not really sure of, I've been thinking of investing in a thermal prob or laser thermometer to figure it out exactly, but for now those are the temperatures I set on the RDK-200 with 10mm flat coil.

Thats interesting. Is that the optimal temperature for active ingredient extraction or the temperature you set your E-nail ?

Kaboose@Kaboose ,
You bring up a good point, the differences in temperature that each company's thermocouple reads seems to vary across the board and should be taken into consideration.
The fact that you have an Auber PID does shed a little light on the current product drop.
Thanks for sharing!

JaysunLow temp vs high temp is an actively heated debate. There is a ceramic only subculture that thinks 400-600F is the sweet spot. A small company makes a $150 all in one ceramic kit that hits this niche. They also partnered with another company for their flat ceramic coil and dome paired up with a true PID like this (Auber is superior to the PID they used) and I think that kit is $300 but it has all the ceramic flat coil and nail. There is a big debate between flat coil and regular coils as well. For lowtemp/flavor chasers, flat coils are king. Flat ceramic coils on ceramic nails with ceramic carb caps. I'm not name dropping vendors. @JaySun ,if you'd like to discuss it, you have my email. I'd prefer not to get moderated out because of accidentally name dropping places that might be good partners for yall but currently provide competition for active drops.
There is the mindset I subscribe to which is 650-800F ceram or quartz for flavor. I was REALLY close to getting this drop, but I realized that another vendor I like was running a "good enough" option for $180 and I got it with a ceramic nail/carbcap for another $60. I don't have a TON of experience with ceramics yet, but from what I've read, they don't like fast up/down heat. The AUBER seems to be a good option for ceramics because it slows down as it gets hotter. You sometimes have to use a carb cap, but you get full flavor and don't tax your lungs as much trying to get those low slow dabs finished.
Then there is the Hot and Hurty crew. They go for 1000-1100F. They don't live life with carb caps. They want the dab to completely vaporize as it hits the nail so they get a massive quick potent hit. They theoretically hit all the stuff in the oil like CDB, and decrease vapor:air ratios. If you are really in this zone, you might rethink and research the VB2. You'll often find them having trouble letting go of torches. I hope this helps.

That is a TON of useful information and I am sure everyone appreciates it. It is highly unlikely you or any of our community members would ever be moderated out of a discussion. I say this because Massdrop is for the people and by the people. That being said it's the contributions of the community that makes the Massdrop concept so great. I may censor inappropriate language or personal attacks but 99% of the time if someone is just trying to inform the community through personal experiences, it stays. I consider that the "concentrate" and the products the "flavor" of this whole Dabbing experience.
Moving on, I think I know who you are talking about and I admire their innovation in electric ceramic dabbing. The only thing I really question is the light switch like dimmer they use for temperature control. Aside from that it is a great entry level option.
Cheers,
JaySun

JaysunYeah, they're working with an actual e-nail company to get their ceram flat coil heater and domeless nail/carb cap combo hooked up with a traditional PID. That being said, their heater looks like a dimmer, but I fully intend on checking them out when I have more disposable income.

I wasn't trying to accuse anyone of heavy handed moderation, sorry. Describing the differences might help you locate other vendors that can meet those specific needs without making everyone go "ooh yeah you should offer that" in a drop for something else lol.

Kabooseanother word of advice for any prospective enail owners...
since the nail obviously stays hot if you are like me and use the enail a lot and keep it running often, you don't want to put your nice glass at risk. it's very uncommon, but it is possible for the heat fluctuations after being at a high temp for a long time to mess wit the glass if it's damaged or weak.
my glass rig has a 14mm male connector, but instead of building my universal nail to be female style, i built it to be male and got one of these female to female connectors.
it doubles as a stand for the enail, something to carry it around/move it by, and i have a little glass foot i bought with a 14mm male joint so it can sit on the table while turned on. if you accidentally dab down the middle air hole, your reclaim will be sitting in the tube for you to scrape up.
there are a few youtube videos of idiots torching nails in nice glass pieces way way way too long and having the glass shatter. occasionally after running my enail for a very long time the glass adapter i leave it sitting in might creak but i've never had one break on me for this reason. its just precautionary.
that was a lot of words but hope that helped! i run my RDK 200 at 625 degrees all day and love it!

powersv2any enail owner should have a carb cap ceramic or not. why leave all that good stuff burning off? even 700f is too high.... b/w 600 and 700 is really the sweet spot for this nail. you don't get any extra cannabanoids extracted by using it above 800f, everything that is in your extracts will be vaporized as low as ~350F! your hit might be slow and not visually gratifying as a hotter hit, but using the nail hotter to "get more out of it" is a misconception

powersv2No need to dance around with products names, this is a deal community and you are encouraged to talk about deals(so long as they are on topic). Some of the very conversations in these threads help the staff with prospective offerings .
I own the 710 coil and it is a good starter e-nail. That being said it's delicate and only an analog enail. I use it whenever I go off to a friends place and after about 10 min on max temp it performs quite well.
The Auber is one of the most highly recommended enails which can use not only flat coils but barrel coils. I think someone in the market for the first time is better off with something like this, which adapts to more naisl : ie quartz, ti, and even ceramic nails. Versus just a custom ceramic nail used by the 710 coil. Another plus with the auber is the portability compared with many DIY units that have large enclosures. The 710 Coil heater has solder connections which can easily break.
In closing, why not have the best of both worlds, and get the flat coil offered. Pair that Auber with a domeless.com ceramic nail + ceramic cap and you have a precision plus flavor.
PS During xmas the 710 coil was sold @ $100. I think that price point might be tempting for mass drop community members but at retail, $150 I think investing in a Auber is more prudent.

As someone using this exact setup on my recycler (i also got that on massdrop) I must say it gives a very flavourful hit. If you have good wax/shatter at your disposal, you will thank yourself for getting this.

fartyI do gauntlets, never just one dab so I like to have it real hot in order to hit multiple times in a row.
This is my personal preferred temp of enjoying my shatter; It is the way I like it - A huge hit without having the use of caps. I like to have everything dissipate as soon as it hits.
