I owned a pair of LCD-2s and I couldn't stand them. Terrible soundstage (worse than a lot of closed headphones I've tried). and horrible comfort. Nothing beats that bass though I'll give them that. I couldn't go more than about 15 minutes without needing an hour or so break in between listening sessions. Ended up replacing them with some HE-560s.

AcquireI have the LCD2.2 and the HE-560 for a week (to review) and while you are right with the soundstage unless you drive the LCD2.2 balanced and with the proper amp - then it opens up nicely - but overall, I think the HE-560 could be the better headphone. It's definitively very close. Am surprised how good the HE-560 is. But am not sure about it yet, just listened a few hours. However, as you said, bass is a bit nicer on the Audeze, You can't go wrong with both.

koolpepI've made this very same comparison. Wouldn't go as far as calling the Audeze's "terrible" but I definitely prefer my lower-priced HE-560 (and especially my HE-6 that I got for just $100 more!). This particular combo has garnered a lot of respect however and the price is appealing... I may jump on for the amp so I have a reason to try my LCD-2s again.
@Seon Apology accepted. Unfortunately you couldn't keep yourself from throwing judgments and showing a wicked display of arrogance for that comment either, but oh well. I realize a lot of enthusiasts are like that I just hadn't gotten used to seeing them on Massdrop yet.

ogoodeI find the HE-560 technically better (better highs, better detail, better soundstage) but I found the LCD 2.2 more enjoyable (better bass, smoother overall, relaxing.)
I use to have both, as they complimented each other. Then I had to ship the LCD 2.2 somewhere due to moving, and USPS lost it. They won't even pay me back because they don't keep records of who bought insurance and for how much. I ended up selling the HE560 because it started getting a bit boring because of how analytical it was.
They're both heavy hitters in their price range. However (and keep in mind the LCD 2 is one of my favorite headphones hands down,) I liked the ZMF Blackwood better than both. I got the benefits of both headphones (which honestly just makes it sound similar to the LCD-X) while being closed and not bothering anyone with my music. Yay for office use!
I wish this amp wasn't stuck with a headphone though. I'd buy it in a heartbeat if it was by itself. Or with the EL-8 (as that would be cheaper and I could just sell the EL-8 easily while the hype is still rolling.)

RlmendezMassdrop does have a separate drop for the Audeze LCD-2 currently going even though it isn't really much of a discount by itself. (Disregard this comment)
Correction: I read your comment wrong. You meant for the amp, not the headphone.
