I bought the LCD-2 along with a Schiit Mjolnir and Gungnir. The LCD-2 is an outstanding headphone. The slightly recessed highs are actually really nice. The highs are still very detailed, just a hair quieter than other headphones, the Sennheiser HD-600 and Grado SR 225 / SR 60 being my direct comparisons. I can't say I have heard the Violectric, but after reading the specs, the LCD-2 will likely sound great. I also have a Schiit Asgard (not the the Asgard 2) and Bifrost, and the sound of the LCD-2 is still solid through that combo. The clarity is better on the Mjolnir/Gungnir, but it isn't night and day. For those who are jumping into the Hi-Fi headphone world, this is a solid purchase. I will recommend the LCD-2 all day, every day. I let my friend listen to the setup and she isn't into any Hi-Fi gear at all. If I didn't intervene, I would have lost her for hours to high volume listening.
