I bought two pairs, one AD500x and one AD700x. On my AD500x box there is a sticker that says "Warning: Cancer and Reproductive Harm- www.065Warnings.ca.gov". There is no other information regarding this anywhere else on the package and there is no such sticker on the AD700x. What?
How much was the ad500x the last time? cuz I don't know if its worth the waiting when you can get it for 70$ on amazon or 80-90$ for ad700x which i would like to buy.
Just ordered an A1000Z (really excited for it) and have been charged for it.
It still says there is an issue with the payment (it's not going through or something even though it did). Anybody having any issues with that?
EDIT: The problem has been fixed! Really excited to get my hands those A1000Zs!
Out of curiosity, I own an HD6XX, AKG K553, and SHP9500. How would an A1000Z sound compared to those?
I just got mine AD700X on this sale. I been wanting one for ages.
I have a pair of HD6XX which is my daily drivers but always wanted either the AD500X or AD700x and when I saw this sale and saw this isn’t a Massdrop version I started to think that maybe Audio Technica is clearing inventory for a new revision after the holidays season and as is tradition in the audio world every time there’s a new “revision” is higher MSPR and the previous version prices double or more in some cases.
Rip AD500X and AD700X are sold out. The price jump from the AD700X to the AD1000X is insane given they use most of the same parts... I can only hope the drivers are folded ten thousand times :P
it's a dual entry headphone so making it balanced is easy and only requires you using 1 extra wire and wiring it to a balanced plug instead of a 6.5. So yes.
Also, looking at some cables people are getting away with selling for 80 to 200 dollars I can see some of them literally put less than 20 minutes of effort into making these, but people will buy them (cause they're dumb).
I fully braid every part which takes longer but ends up in cables looking a lot nicer.
I wanted to share this instructable I just wrote up for a project I did a while ago. I, like others here, have found the "wings" on Audio Technica headphones to be less than comfortable. So through some trial and error I came up with a super comfortable hat headphone DIY project, documented in this instructable. Let me know what you think.
Thanks man, that settles it then, I have the Hd58X, hd&xx and Hd600, and yes, 58X it's the more fun can between them, though my favorites are the 6XX, though 600 it's definitely a nice headphone and I'd be satisfied with a similar bass, but if it's less than that, I'll guess I'll look elsewhere, maybe the Fostex Ebony or something like that.
i prefer the HD 58x for hip hop metal and electronic music over the HD600.. HD600bi like better with Jazz besides certain jazz fusion songs i like 58x better.. thought it might just ve me but im really impressed with the 58x.. sounds great paired with my topping nx4 or lg v30.. such a great value
I have the 1000X's, so here's what I think for anyone considering them. Wonderful clarity and imaging with a narrow soundstage, Zeos raves about these things. My word of caution is that they aren't the most versatile for music. When it comes to jazz, country, folk, classic rock like The Beatles etc., I'd bust these out. Anything like heavy metal, extreme metal, southern styles of hip-hop and really digital music in general doesn't sound as great on these 'phones because of their rather soft delivery. Also they benefit from wider heads. They don't have yolks and don't really clamp onto your head that well, and the wing support isn't that stiff so the earcups can slide down your head making you readjust them, which I do all the time. It becomes a comfort thing, so they benefit from some slightly thicker pads.
so consensus here seems to get open ones and I heard good things about AD700x - "legendary for gaming", "with them on u feel like cheating". Anyone can say good or bad about 550z or 1000z , for example? I hate design with these flaps and non-detachable cable. I like 40 Ohm and 100db sensitivity. Anything else? Sound signature? Ability to resolve bass, mid, treble?
Yeah, I never heard the 1000x but I heard the treble was slightly smoother on the 2000x... I didn't find it sibilant either, I found it perfect.
I just need a headphone with Beyer bass, Senn mids, and AT highs ;-)
First thoughts.........HD58X... But the highs are more like the SHP9500 than any headphone with decent highs. M1060 might be close small issues though in the highs where AT accell at. DT1990 would probably be a good compromise. But then again the HD660s Actually has the sennheiser Mids, AT Highs (kinda, they sound grainy at first but then you realise its not grainy after a while) Better imaging, Soundstage it has one, but not as big as like th e700x/900x. To lazy to grab my 2000x but i think from memory its similar size. It has bass, but its not bassy, its Quality bass to keep a more neutral sound but its enough that it sits just above neutral with a more lively sound. If you love the ATH-AD's but want bass you will love the HD660s (but not the price). HD58X doesnt sound like the HD660s! different sounding in many ways.
With a medium-large head, using the AD500x has been amazing for gaming, alright for music, and unbelievably comfortable over long sessions. Highly recommend the AD500x or similar ones above it if your head is decently large, I often forget I have these on over hours of use which has never happened to me with another headset. Positional tracking is outstanding, it's as though going from a "OK did he shoot from my left side or right?" to "OK that guy just shot from between my 2:15 and 2:30". Would highly recommend also increasing the bass slightly in an EQ preset if you are listening to music, but in gaming deep bass doesn't help awareness so I would keep it neutral. Going a step further if you are rather inclined in modding, you could transplant AD2000 drivers into the 500x shell, buying them from audio technica for I believe $45-55 per driver.
The 1990 is my main headphone. I don't think they're too bright like some people. Call me crazy but I listen to harsh noise on them where you have squealing feedback and all frequencies are maxed out at the same time and they don't irritate my ears. I think I'm in the minority on that though lol.
They are on the brighter side, and have a great energy in the upper mids that works well with electric guitars and female vocals. I don't think they are at all sibilant, you might find them harsh if you aren't used to bright headphones, or are pairing with a solid state amp that has that is know to have hot treble. Would recommend using a hybrid or tube amp.
i already have k7xx , k702 , mdr 7610 mdr cd900st and sennheiser game one
for ad700x which are my headphgone closest ?
and is it true ad700x best headphone for fps gaming ?
My memory doesn't agree with your opinion of the k712's imaging but I also don't have it on hand to verify this so I can't really argue the point but from your other descriptions I would say you are just very used to a certain type of headphone sound, the positional accuracy on the 2000x is glorious.
PS: I have a 700x ordered to refresh my memory, I'll compare it to my current headphones and if I find something worth mentioning and I remember about this discussion I'll come back with another reply.
I wouldnt say im used to a certain type of headphone sound i go through at least 3 a month for the past yeah with at least 7 on hand for review testing......
Edit: Actually i take that back.... You might be a bit right.
in the future im gonna buy hd800s and will need a closed set to compliment them. i prefer darker mid forward sound like 650s and found k7xxs a bit harsh and had to damp them with a couple ply of toilet paper (ordering a garage project horizon so that might tame them). ive heard "bright" used to describe a few of the headsets in this drop and i want to run away. but im still tempted. which of these would be considered the darkest?
How's the comfort on these? The Sony headphones I've been wearing have been giving me a headache on the top of my head when I wear them for long periods of time.
