JamesCanadaI can't comment on either of these phones specifically, but I own and have owned two others with the same headband design - ATH-AD700 and ATH-R70x . For me, they are the most comfortable cans I've worn, I can listen for many hours with no discomfort.

JamesCanadaHonestly.. not comfortable at all. The ear cups are shallow, feels odd and the wing design is just awful (creates two distinct pressure points on my head). Audiotechnica themselves admit the design needs to change and are working on the ADX5000 series open and a closed version possibly next year. Sound wise.. They do it right. Comfort wise, they're working on it. Always demo something before you buy it - attend head-fi meets, can-jam, drive 100 miles for a REAL head-fi shop. It's worth it.

JamesCanada Depending on your head shape/size, they can slip and put pressure on your ears. Some people do the rubber band mod to fix this. I've tried the new ADX5000 and that new headband design is just as comfortable (if not more... compared with my ATH-ADGX1) without the same issues. $2k though...
