To anyone that joined this drop. I just finished filming my review of the 2000Z and I highly recommend grabbing a set of the Dekoni TH900 angled lambskin pads and putting them on to help lift the bass, improve the comfort and if you twist the widest part towards the top fix the gapping that the default headband shape leaves.

UzuzuThanks. Just confirming angled pads not needed correct? Stock pads don't look angled to me. Just the drivers.

Jamesn67The drivers are quite angled. I found myself trying to straighten them out when I tried angled pads on the ad2000x though it wasn't too bad. Definitely better with flat pads, 100 percent.

Jamesn67oh and while the brainwavz hybrid fenestrated pads work nice they do take some stretching. audeze pads also fit very easy, but they are angled (the velour ones can be straightened out). Or you can buy upgrade pads off of ebay like the ones Z puts in his ad1000x/2000x reviews' descriptions on YouTube, that's the cheapest option and they aren't bad.

UzuzuSo came up with one more question. The outer diameter of these is about 105mm and the inner is about 55mm. Brainwavz doesn't have a perfect match to this. Is it better to match the ID or OD? I was thinking better to match ID maybe to keep the sound similar?

Jamesn67stock ID is very small, and it's the reason most people even go for upgrade pads. In my experience with Audio technica headphones, their sound changes little if at all with different pads as long as the pads are made of a similar material to the stock. Outer diameter is the most important because you want to actually fit them to your headphones. The Brainwavs are like 100 mm diameter I think and the AT are 103? It's just a few MM smaller and fits with some stretching. Or do the ebay pads. don't be scared of the sound changing b/c the stock technica pads blow, they aren't too bad on this model though. also let me know if you want to get rid of your 1000z's, ;-)

ZeosPanteraI look forward to your review of the Ath a2000z. It was partially based on your review of the ath a1000z that I took a chance. So Thank you.
