Finally got a chance to open these headphones up and try them out. I'd like to hear what others thing of them.

DDDDDI'm really liking mine. I wanted over-ear cans with closed-backs because I wanted noise-filtering without the bose noise-cancelling price. These (at the drop price of $120) satisfied both. To me the sound quality is very nice. I've got a big head, so they're at their maximum size setting and it can look a little odd, but I don't feel that it's putting any undue stress on them.
I would buy them again at this price in a heartbeat. At the msrp of $200, I might wait and think a little more, but I probably wouldn't be disappointed either.

DDDDDThey're not anything special. I'm satisfied with the sound quality, but I stopped listening to them since I've noticed an incessant clicking in the left ear cup, sending them back now.

nelsonJust a bit of feedback here. I think a lot of us would have appreciated an update sooner. The drop ends, then we're left hanging for nearly a week with no word of what is going on. Please be more frequent in your communication.

I really hope these are good...none of the reviewers made any detailed comments about the sound quality, no idea why you'd even bother with a headphone review and leave that out

I tried some NC ATH cans at an airport headphone store. Did not like them at all. Don't remember if they were the same model as this.

Za_WarudoMy bro has the anc27, and I hate their feel, but theyre a completely different model. These actually surround the ear, so they should feel better. The chances of them being the model you tried are slim, they are a recent release.

I have the earlier ATH-ANC7 NC headphones. I can't really tell you if the sound is truly superb or not since I don't have anything to compare them to. Yeah they sound great, but I only have cheap earbuds to compare them to.
I can let you know about the noise cancellation though. The noise cancelling features are really amazing. It's especially good at neutralizing midrange sounds like people talking. About the only thing that I've found able to challenge the noise cancellation are short sharp percussive sounds like coughs and it dulls those noises to a minimum.
My only complaint is that it's hard to wear these as long as I'd like because the fit is snug and your ears get uncomfortably warm after 30 to 45 minutes. I don't know if you'll be able to avoid this with other headphones though. Also, the snug fit sometimes gives me headaches, but that's probably just me since I have this problem on almost all headphones that are fine for other people.
If these are anything like my ATH-ANC7's, then you'll also want to be aware that the noise neutralizing qualities of these headphones are one way only. With the volume turned up only halfway on an iPhone it becomes very hard to hear ambient noises and you get the impression that you're in a sound proof cocoon. Anyone else within earshot of you won't have the same experience. These sound surprisingly loud to other people in the room. If you're using these to be considerate at work, it won't work if you want your tunes loud.
They don't need to be that loud with these, but you'll be sharing your music if you like it loud.
