Why do people hate on these so much? They are one of (if not the best) sounding wireless bluetooth headphones out there.

sacredrabbitI have not heard the wireless versions but if they are anything like the regular M50x's (I can't imagine they are any better?) then they are bad. Very very bad. I'd only ever suggest these if they were under $100.

LlexI agree I don't trust anything bluetooth, but why do you hate the M50X? They bring the bass up a touch but as best I can hear and a lot of enthusiasts (head-fi.org) seem to think pretty highly of them for the price. Caveat, I know when you start spending $500 or more for a set of cans the quality "usually" gets better, definitely not the case with brands like skullcandy and beats. But M50X as well as the DT770 are sub $200. If you know of another great set of headpbones in the sub $200 please let me know, I will certainly give them a try.

acartier1981Firstly they're marketed as studio monitors, which is weird because they have a v-shaped sound signature. Mids - Vocals sit forward but are muddy and have no clarity. If you're not listening to high quality music files then this might not be as big an issue though, especially if you enjoy forward sounding vocals. Highs - These are sibilance murder cans. If you're into ear-piercing high frequencies then these might be up your ally. I personally couldn't listen to them for an extended amount of time without wanting to stab myself in the ears. Bass - This is arguably their best quality. They have average sounding bass but it's very loose. Enough for EDM and sound effects while gaming. Soundstage and imaging - None. Nothing sounds like it's coming from outside the small space within the earcups and you can't place where sounds are coming from. Everything is dead centre. They would quite possibly be the worst headphones ever for FPS gaming because you just can't place where sounds are coming from in any direction. I can understand people's love for these, especially if they haven't actually heard anything better before. They were my first headphones and thought they were the greatest things ever (apart from the sibilance/fatigue from the highs) until I started getting more expensive headphones, starting with X00's. Not that they're headphones but the VE Monk Plus are better than these in all respects apart from bass, which is to be expected from earbuds that aren't in-ear. Better yet you can find them for under $5. I don't have any experience with headphones in this price-range, so i'm not going to pretend to know which to recommend.

LlexWhen you say things like they have “no clarity” and “no soundstage” it just sounds like you’re either a bit emotional or have have too much bias. If that was the case then they wouldn’t even be headphones. To be honest with you, it sounds like you might have had a bad pair because I would say they have both a decent (actually pretty good) bass response, muddied mids, and decent treble. They obviously aren’t a $500 headphone but comparing them to Sony XM3 or Bose QCII of whom own the market right now... their sound is great.

sacredrabbitPointing out that they have no clarity or soundstage is being emotional? Well, that's certainly a first. I've had a pair myself and a few friends also had them. Unless they were all "bad pairs" then that isn't the case. I never claimed they were $500. I don't have any experience with any other headphones at this price point but I would be stunned if there's nothing better than them.
