Canadian here. Amazon.ca wants $18 to ship this exact item to my door. I fail to see how crossing an imaginary line on our continent suddenly more than doubles the price because they're coming from Audioengine and not from in my own country. If there is duty due on the item at the border please guys, be specific about the amount relative to shipping because right now this just looks like someone picked the first shipping option they found, not the best. I dont always expect free shipping up here, although honestly I should given the geography of our two nations, but when I do have to pay I expect shipping to be done at as low a cost as possible, even if it takes a little longer. Maybe Amazon has spoiled me as even their .com site is extremely reasonable shipping up. I apologize if this comes off as too much of a rant, it's just that I've gone from a pretty confirmed buy to walking away completely and I'm really sick of often arbitrary shipping premiums (in general, not necessarily directed at Massdrop)

AndrewFSUSPS is the cheapest cross-border shipping option and the rates that we provide are based on the bulk-commercial rate that we receive, which is less than the retail rate on the website. Our users are very sensitive about costs, and we're very cautious about that. We did not pick "the first option that we found". Overall the delivered price from Massdrop is lower than the delivered price from Amazon, and you should really be questioning how Massdrop is able to sell a product cheaper than Amazon and what their profit margin is on that product.

MarkAgain, apologies for the rant. >Overall the delivered price from Massdrop is lower than the delivered price from Amazon True. Never in question. However the total drop in price from MSRP is now 4% for Canadians. In the end, I think you'd agree that the price that hits our credit cards/bitcoin wallets/paypal accts is how much we've actually saved and so, in this particular case, shipping has soured the deal for some. >...and you should really be questioning how Massdrop is able to sell a product cheaper than Amazon and what their profit margin is on that product. Respectfully, excuse me, "I should really be questioning"? I really shouldn't. Massdrop is in the business of leveraging crowd interest to drive down price in negotiations and slice a profit for themselves in the process. "How the sausage gets made" is Massdrop's trade secret and frankly, I dont care as long as it tastes good. And as the end-user/customer, what their profit margin is should be of 0 concern to me - save that it remains non-exploitative, helps pay employees fairly, and keeps them in business to serve. Anyway, this isn't contributing much for discussion among interested members anymore so I'll exit the thread (apologies to people with discussion updates turned on).

AndrewFSI believe the point that Mark was making is that you should be questioning how, even at so much lower volumes than Amazon moves, Massdrop is able to undercut the to-your-doorstep price of Amazon, and what Amazon's margins must be on their goods.
