Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. I use mine for headphones only, and it's great, especially with that big, smooth volume dial on the front. I don't use a player in the dock; just pass audio through it from my MacBook and an external DAC.
It will comfortably drive headphones from 16-300 Ohms, and I was happy with it on the mid gain setting with my HD 6XX. Just note that, despite it's description on some product websites, it's not a DAC. Amp only.
Hope this helps.
I see a lot of small units on here with a headphone jack on the front of the unit and outputs on the back, but they are usually RCA outputs, like the NuForce uDAC-3 DAC/Amp Combo that was just recently submitted to Massdrop. How do you hook up bookshelf speakers if the unit only has RCA cables? Do you need another amp as middle-man?
