So I can safely say stay as far away from this product as humanly possible. At first it would start making quiet hissing noises after ten or twenty minutes of use. I tried to get in contact with support, but it takes days to get a single response back from them. The hissing and since become so unbearable that the amp is completely unusable. I now sit with a 180 dollar paperweight hoping the support messages me back any day now with some sort of fix. Overall for my first headphone amp/dac, this is an enormous disappointment and I have full regrets buying this product. Also I even bought another tube to make sure it wasn't the tube, and it totally was the Aune itself. It's been a huge letdown.

ReverseCometI'm considering an amp for the first time as well - these units are no small purchase. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience (and sorry that you are having so many associated problems).

MattTheSasquatchHi Matt, you've almost entirely convinced me on these after watching you on youtube. I'm quite a noob, and I've recently ordered the hd6XX and I also have an lg g6 quad dac.
I have a question: Is it possible to use 3.5mm to RCA cable and use the phone as a source this way? Or is this a terrible idea? lol
Also, would you say these are better than the objective 2 amp + odac combo? and/or the Schiit Stack? If money were no object (on a budget T_T)

AuffendI don't have a 3.55 to rca to test it, but if I had to guess that may work. And compared to the O2 or even the Schiit Stack, its different. The O2 and Schiit are solid state, as the T1SE is a tube. Comparing them is like apple to oranges. All 3 are great, but it depends on do you want a the tube sound, or solid state? Between the O2 and Schiit Stack, I'd go Schiit Stack personally. But Schiit Stack or Aune T1SE? They're different animals. The Stack will have a more neutral sound signature and will sound great on everything. The T1 since it's a tube will warm up headphones. Some headphones like the HD600 will sound amazing, but there may be a headphone or 2 that the tube warmth may not sound as nice. They're different animals and it depends on what sound you want.

MattTheSasquatchMatt thank you, you've been very helpful! And I hope it's not too much to ask that you give these a listen and tell me if this sorta music will be suitable for a tube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c5_GL4TXMyY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kinxnafxyk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oo69RL1aSF4 I do like more warmer, if that means more sub bass and larger soundstage, generally wish to use for gaming J- rpgs, and listening to deep house. More intruments like harm, opposed to pop stuff ha.
Anyway I'm rambling, if it's too much to ask so be it, no wukkas, but thanks for your advice so far!

AuffendWith these 3 songs and HD600's here are my thoughts.
Wandering: holy jeez! This is probably one of the best songs I've heard played through this rig. So much detail and I just love it. Sounds amazing.
Line of Fire: Some people will argue electro music isn't that great with tube amps. This is partly true as since tubes don't work as fast as solid state, you can get some muddiness. Personally, I think it sounds pretty fine. Just the bass isn't going to be hard hitting. You'll hear bass and sub bass, but it probably won't be in your face.
Automata OST: Again, just extremely detailed. I love the mens choir with this rig, just sounds warm and full. And the percussion is very great and heard, but isn't overtaking the mix which I personally love.
Overall, what you get with a tube is a relaxing sound. Most things will sound great, some EDM may not translate as well, but you're going to get a relaxing feeling. Kind of like a nice comfy recliner.

AuffendNot a problem! Always happen to help. I would for sure recommend Open back headphones to get the best experience out of a tube.

erokitI did. It was still having the same problems. Massdrop was great with returning the item, which was nice. But maybe I just did get a bad unit, but regardless I'm now getting the Schiit Stack instead.

MattTheSasquatchJust a tip, the T1 won't give you a tube sound, it's not a tube amp. It's a tube buffer design that will give you some options in tweaking the sonic presentation of the DAC section.
Personally I love the T1 and always recommend over ODAC+O2 and Schiit stack. And it works great with the HD6x0.
The area of the T1 have over the Objective and Schiit camps are its mids, the downside being much higher cost due to hidden costs of tube rolling.

JackulaOh I know it's not a tube amp. But because it has the tube in the buffer, it will still have a different sound than a solid state rig.

MattTheSasquatchNo, it's really not that different. The presentation differences are not attributed to the tube design, but more the DAC implementation. Listen to a Aune X1s, the presentation is just like the T1, tube rolling makes very little difference to the T1, well that is my experience anyway.
The Schiit stack isn't competently neutral, if we're talking about the Modi/Magni stack, there is some colour in the mid bass. The ODAC+O2 in comparison is more neutral and less fatiguing, but it lacks dynamics.
I bought an ODAC+O2 when I compared it to the Schiit stack many years ago, but I probably would prefer the Schiit now because my tastes have evolved towards non-neutral.

JackulaAs true as that is, the tube is still doing some work. It's not a true solid state like a magnI, I'd call it more like a hybrid with a little tube sound. Regardless, it still is a great little combo, regardless how much the tube actually does to the sound.

ReverseCometHi @ReverseComet, did you manage to get a reply from the support? I have the same issue with my unit, and I cannot return it as it's past the return period. Massdrop is not even helping by telling me if it is a bad unit or there is something I can do with it. The noise is coming from the right side only, but it's unbearable.
