Which headphones of Drop's currently available?
I have some rewards points to burn but there's no obviously good options on Drop right now for headphones Contenders Ultrasone - maybe? I don't own any Ultrasones, so curious. Looks like garbage travel headphone which could be useful also. Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro. - Maybe? I have the DT 880 Good price point, really uncomfortable headphones but could be interesting to try the upgraded version. E-MU - strong contender but $400 is a bad price point for what it is. Which of the above would you choose and why? Nothing else on Drop is relevant to my interests, because Already own 6xx 820 800 s Ether cx Garbage / Consumer grade Meze 99 - garbage bass canons, hard pass No gaming headphones obviously Sennheiser wireless - no to wireless/bluetooth Hifiman - I have 2 of drop hifimans and they make really bad cheap shit on Drop, hard pass on HE-R7DX Aeon - I own the closed, Drop refuses to address #padgate so no reason to buy open Beyerdynamic 177x - wireless, nope Too similar 8x / 560s...

Also, I’m new to this if it isn’t obvious. Whenever I take up a hobby I tend to go all-in. For home I ordered the Cavalli CTH Tube Hybrid. This will replace the Dragonfly Black that I’ve been using at home and on the go. At home I have tended to use either my Massdrop HE-4xx’s or DT 770’s. I’m trying to keep things relatively inexpensive until I figure out what type of sound I like the most. Any thoughts will be appreciated.
Over the last 2 months with the Aune I can say I prefer it. The Schiit to me is more up front and the Aune sounds more natural and fun. Btw I'm using the Massdrop Sennheiser HD 6XX, AKG K7XX, Superlux HD668B and JBL LSR30X all streaming Master quality Tidal on PC.
I've got my JBL LSR30X monitors connected to my Aune with TS to RCA and this is where I find myself listening to everything now. I think the headphone jack might sound a little different than the RCA? Maybe the tube sound comes out more with that connection? Who knows lol I think I'm just enjoying the different experience of speakers right now.
Being honest I think my toys sound amazing and I've come to the conclusion that they're all just different. I mix everything for different stuff. Right now I've settled on K7XX/Schiit for gaming, superlux occasionally with the Aune (that combo doesn't stab knives into my ears), and HD6XX mostly for music/movies. That cheap Superlux is an insane value.
This hobby is getting expensive lol
The Superlux can's are rad! Cheap but makes sound go!
Is that a w/c rad at the bottom of your case?
And no on the rad. My case is InWin 303 with those crazy RGB Corsair fans. I wanted a cooling design that didn't pull air in from the front and this was perfect. My AIO is NZXT Kraken X42 that I had to custom mount in a 120mm fan spot.
I have my eye on pairing the Aune with the Darkvoice 336SE/6XX. From what I've read the 6XX and Darkvoice are match made for each other and I'll probably grab it on the next drop. Tube on tube sounds extremely fun! I'll probably end up tube rolling eventually :) Like I said before this hobby can get expensive.
Using the Aune alone isn't a bad experience so give it a try before you spend a boat load of $. Between solid state and tube I find things to be different and not exactly one better than the other. Whatever you decide I hope you love it and remember this is only my subjective opinion!
