markp9069According to this review, the RCA are fixed, so you cannot control active monitors with the front volume control:

It would be perfect for me if I could control the volume, though I am still very tempted as I am trying to decide on this new X1S or the iFi micro dsd since I have a Schiit SYS that I can use as a volume control if I go with the X1s.
I don't listen to headphones much (usually IEMs) but I love my active studio monitors for gaming and music (Airmotiv 5s). I am new to the whole audiophile world though, so I'm sure I'll go broke soon enough! For now my Maverick D1 is quite nice, but I'm a noob. :)

PraxisxSo it is just a pass through DAC to line out RCA, right? From what I read, the RCA out will work no matter what input you're using?

ArcaneOracleYes, that's my understanding. Most of the combo dac/amps that I've seen work that way.
