Can someone explain the procedures to me? For both the neutral drops there are over 200 requests now but nobody seems to react. It would be useful to get an update on what is happening and whether the drop will be relaunched.

Thanks for posting your question. I’m sure other people are wondering the same thing. We have been in contact with Aurifil to arrange a re-run of this product however, their preference is to offer a variety of their products throughout the year. Based on this, it's unlikely this specific drop will be re-run this year.
The good news is that we are currently setting up a new drop with Aurifil threads and working to have it on our site in late March or early April. There will be an email sent out to the quilting community so no one misses out. Please know that each drop we do run will take into account the requests we see from our members. Feel free to let us know what Auriful products you'd like to see in future drops!
Received my Lipinski collection and am very pleased with the color assortment and price ~ would consider ordering again!

We reached out to the vendor earlier today and they let us know that the order from Italy should be arriving at their facility by the end of the week. Once it arrives it will be a short hop to our facility and then shipped out to you! We will stay in contact with the vendor and update you all every step of the way.

First batch of these came in and were shipped out promptly! We are waiting on the remaining batch of 50 units of Mark Lipinski Basics. We submitted our order for The Aurifil Thread Collection Neutrals shortly after the drop ended.
Now that the order has been placed, the vendor is preparing it for shipment. In the meantime, we will also be getting our warehouse ready to handle the reshipment of the product to everyone as soon as it arrives.

You are charged when the drop ends. Usually that means when the seven day waiting period is up, but a drop can end sooner if there is a limited quantity and we sell out.
I'm confused on why the shipping price keeps fluctuating? This one is the cheaper $5.69 that others have been internationally, but the Jungle Ave box a couple of weeks ago was over $13 to ship.

In regards to the weight of the spools of 40wt and 50wt, a friend on instagram has advised me that a large 40wt single spool is 30g (1.05822 ounces). A single 50wt spool is 35g (1.23459 ounces)! Meaning the 40wt, is actually lighter, so therefore should be cheaper to ship!
The plastic box itself (I weighed my own from a Tula Pink collection) is 210g (7.40753 ounces). A 50wt box set with 12 threads is then 610g (21.5171 ounces) and the 40wt with 12 threads is then 570g (20.1062 ounces) ! So if this 50 wt set is heavier, why is it half the shipping price than what the 40wt sets were offered?
Edit: I'm also assuming you purchase the Aurifil threads from the same vendor/s so can't see the bulk prices you offer differing too much and from what I recall the price for this set is the same as I remember the 40wt set being; or have you offset the extra shipping cost into the price of this box and this had not been done on the 40wt set? If this is the case, it makes me think there needs to be some standard on the items you do this too. I'm not saying your pricing is unfair, but merely confusing when the shipping amount isn't standardised across the same products.

Your concerns are important to us and noted- you aren't being nosy.
Couple quick answers to your questions 1) We can't empty out the box and just ship the thread. Also it won't make a difference because international shipping weights are rounded up to the nearest pound.
2) We always charge less for shipping than our actual cost (unless weights are wrong for some reason), and we discount shipping on a product-by-product basis depending on promotions that we're running. So "inconsistencies" in our shipping can come from
a) a weight mistake by us b) changing the carriers that we're using - we've been jumping between USPS and UPS Mail Innovations, and we're testing DHL shortly c) different shipping discounts our marketing team applies depending on what products they want to promote. I can see that we had a $0 marketing promotion set for the Aurifil 40wt, which is the main reason why it was more expensive than the current Thread Neutrals.
I watch over a lot of our communities and our shipping policies are pretty consistent across all categories (consistent, in that they change from buy to buy- just like crafting). What I'm learning and passing up the chain to our operations people is that the crafting/quilting niche is very sensitive to shipping price fluctuations, so I'm going to ask them to look into it and maybe propose some solutions, like flat rate International shipping, or applying promotions to prices instead of discounting shipping, etc.

This may be a silly question, but do you get the storage box with the thread? (The only time I've ordered Aurifil thread, they were just loose in an envelope.)

Our shipper was able to find the lost order and deliver it to our warehouse. Our warehouse team was able to get most orders packed up and out the door. There are a few orders that didn't make the shipment cutoff time, but they will go out Monday morning. We will update the group when everything is on its way.

Quick update with the new information that came in. This order was sent to us in three batches. One of the batches was lost en route. We have followed up with the shipping company and they are in the process of looking for the group's order now. In the meantime we have also ordered another set of the Aurifil Thread Collection Neutrals just in case the lost package is not located. We are waiting for the vendor to let us know the shipping schedule for the replacement order and will update the group as soon as we hear back. Wow. 215+ orders for this and a second incomplete shipment? Yes please, an update from the vendor as to when (or IF) this will get shipped and some kind of info on how you are determining who gets these partial shipments.

Is this typically how long it takes to get something through Mass Drop? This is my first order and I have been waiting just about a month now...Just wondering :-)

Hey nparry,
It really depends on the product and what the manufacturer/distributor has readily available on hand. The typical drop takes about 2 weeks assuming everything runs smoothly. If there are hiccups, then there are delays. Some of our bigger Aurifil orders have taken longer to fulfill, while other ones (like the cones, or the neutral 6 packs) were done in less than two weeks.
